Growing up I not only just loved books, but I simply adored Dr. Seuss books. I loved his wildly funny, wickedly imaginative words and stories and I would read them again and again as a little Sweet Cream. One of my favorites (is there such a word when talking about Dr. Seuss??) is “Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now.”
For those of you unfamiliar with the story, some man from above tries kicking poor Marvin out and lists all of the crazy ways that he can leave… by broomstick, by Bumble-Boat, by Crunk Car, by a Zike Bike… if you know Dr. Seuss, like I am sure you do… you get the picture.
I am sure that you are thinking, “Sweet Cream! What the hay does Dr. Seuss have to do with all this?!”

Before we get to that… I will tell you that Mr. Sweets helped me oh-so-very-much! Maybe other misters get into every aspect of planning. But Mr. Sweet Cream really only likes the parts that involve tools, food, and men’s attire…and of course, the honeymoon!
If it wasn’t for him, we would be left without adorable little wooden hearts that I could wood burn our initials into. Boy, I love that boy! Read more…

My oh-so-lovely loved ones weren’t totally hating me for wanting my shower not to be a surprise, nor were they mad about me wanting oh-so-badly wanting to craft the invites.
My shower day is a day that goes down as one of my favorite days in the history of my life. I know that it sounds silly—after all it is just a party to shower me and Mr. Sweets with nice things…but to me those things weren’t things, they were kindness, love and true all-out-soul-sharing from friends and family that gathered at our house on a recent Saturday to show us how much they care.
Since I was hoping for a non-surprise, I got to help pick the date. And I was obsessed with the theme “We Go Together.” And I was so happy that it was at our house so that everyone could stay as late as they wanted and we didn’t have to worry about dragging packages back and forth. But that is where me being “in the know” ended.
There were secret meetings (that I somehow knew happened) and lots of fun planning behind my back.

But before talks of wedding bands even began, Mr. Sweets and I both knew we wanted beautiful words to each other written inside of them. I loved the idea of having some sweet language carved in the bands that would remind us of our feelings for each other that are bound to grow throughout our marriage and life.
I know that I’ve shared with you the idea of having the cinema serve as inspiration, and while I might not having any “movie” ideas woven into our big day, I did get a little idea from a little picture from the big screen I’d like to call License to Wed. (I promise I don’t just watch silly romantic comedies… but my love for thrillers don’t exactly fit into inspiration for weddings—although I am sure that it’s been done… and probably been done beautifully!).
In the movie, John Krasinski’s character gets an engraving on Mandy Moore’s band to surprise her on the big day, but as many of you know, a little sloppy handwriting turns a sweet sentiment into something silly that Mandy Moore winds up telling him never to change…

So when we last left off, I told you about Mr. Sweet Cream’s band that he chose during our trip to Philly’s Jeweler’s Row… a choice that will live on his finger for years to come.
But what about lil’ ol’ me??
Well, I might have shared my pretty bling one here once or twice…
A refresher you might ask? Well, I am happy to oblige.
So while it’s totally unique and something that I was almost in tears (silly me!) after Mr. Sweets told me it was sold before he could get to it—what a trickster—it isn’t something that is easy to match a band to. Read more…

One of the things that we knew had to be crossed off the list was getting our bands. After all the dances were danced, pictures were taken and kisses were kissed at our wedding, isn’t this what would last as reminder of our commitment to each other and the day that made us “man & wife?”
So, we decided to make a little trip to Philly’s-own Jewelers’ Row.
For those of you unfamiliar with this street, it’s a little part of Philly that is dedicated to, you guessed it, jewelry shops. Read more…

Just as I get ready to share the final final versions of the invites that I teased you with, I just had to put something out there to make sure that I didn’t cross the super-crazy-yes-I-know-that-I’m-a-mad-psycho line in wedding planning.
As you will soon see, our invites wound up needing a bit more postage than the typical invite. This was A-OK by me and I kinda had a hunch this would happen. That’s why I took my first one to the post office to get weighed before buying any postage.
Now I realize that some things like stamps can send some brides into freak-out mode and others (count yourself one of the lucky ones) to not care so much.
I originally swooned over the whole idea of using vintage, non-canceled stamps.

While life was still in Part Uno, Cousin Sweets decided that she’d love to be in charge of the margaritas. This lady is someone who loves food, cooking, experimenting, planning just as much as I do, so she took her task pretty seriously researching some yummy tequila-laced infusions. And then I think I broke her little heart when I told her that I thought that we were going to try out Rosmaryn.
She loved the idea of it all. After all, she’s 50% Polish too and thought that everything from the traditions to the potato vodka would be a hit.
But as I told her that I wasn’t sure if people would get lost along the way and that I wasn’t sure of the neighborhood or where people would park, she told me the nicest thing. Cuz Sweets said that she would be honored if I let her cater our rehearsal dinner. She said of course, not to feel any pressure, but to just play with the idea in my head. Read more…

That didn’t slow me down. Just like Jay Z and Swizz Beatz I was “on to the next one.”
I turned to Google to try to help me uncover a unique BYO that was out there in our neighborhood. Of course I would give the rehearsal dinner a rehearsal and go try it out for myself. There were options. But nothing that wowed me.
Until I stumbled upon Rozmayrn in Northern Trenton, not too far from our little Catholic Church in Bucks County. Now this was perfection! I am half Polish and Gmom Sweet Cream smiled when I told her about the idea.
The crazy out-of-control imagination of mine took a hold of me all over again after I found out that rosemary was considered as a symbol of friendship and remembrance and that it was used in Polish weddings as a symbol of love and faith.

Besides all the hours upon hours of planning that goes into a wedding, there seems like there is an awful lot of rehearsing too!
Optional—but not mandatory—practices include a hair trial, a makeup trial, and perhaps a few drafts of the invitation. But one things that is practically a must for any sort of ceremony involving a few folks is the rehearsal.
We already have it all planned out to do a dry run at our local church the evening of the Thursday before the big day. Simple. But the thing that got me stuck was the dry-run chow.

I’m sure that in days before bridal blogs like Weddingbee, brides had their ways about finding a perfect photographer or place to get their dress. They probably heard through the grapevine about a wonderful photographer or a fabulous baker. Either way I’m a chick who loves hearing about people’s experiences and advice whether to pull the trigger on a purchase or not.
I love seeing how many stars a movie gets before deciding if I should really spend all that dough to see it. Mr. Sweets completely embarrassed me (by accident) when he told the guy at Best Buy that I am totally set on buying a printer based on the stars. And restaurant reviews? Enough said.
But sometimes the reviews surprise me! After waiting to see a flick when it gets to DVD, sometimes I wish I would’ve seen it on the big screen. And there have been plenty of times that I just had to try Restaurant X because of rave reviews, only to be left disappointed and confused about what all the fuss was about.
That’s why I highly recommend a test drive. Even if it is a little pricey. Enter my makeup trial. Read more…

I know that I haven’t been here for a week or so. And I feel truly terrible for those of you (even if it’s just one) who anxiously awaited seeing more of the engage sesh that I teased you with last week.
I guess just life came full force at me all at once and the wedding planning—and sharing it with you dear hive—came to almost a full halt.
In one week, so many things have happened that I’m just beginning to catch my balance from it all. Last week, there were tears of joy, tears of sadness and all kinds of emotions battling each other like the 15 round match between Rocky & Apollo Creed in the infamous movie that Philly is known for.
