As soon as Mr. Taffy and I settled in after our minimoon, I came down with a nasty case of strep throat. Getting doctor’s orders to sleep in separate beds is not what this newlywed wanted to hear! At least I didn’t get sick before the wedding. I’m halfway through my antibiotics, and ready to post more projects!
I really wanted to blog about our seating cards before the big day, but things were just too crazy. For most of my planning, I had been scheming about ways to include the blue ribbon that I would be wearing on our wedding day into other projects. I was heavily inspired by Mrs. Avocado’s awesome color coded button escort cards, and decided to use ribbon for ours, continuing our circle / dot theme. If we didn’t have some type of coding system for our cards, we would have had to letter the back of each card to let the servers know where to place the entrees. After choosing our three colors for our food choices and clearing them with the venue, we made these:

Hello, hive! Mr. Taffy and I are back, rested, and ready to bring on the marital bliss! I don’t have any pro teasers yet, but here is one of my favorite guest photos to give you a sneak peek.
I love that my cousin captured Mom Taffy’s profile in the shot.
I am very pleased to report that our wedding was full of fun, love and happiness. I always scoffed when people told us that our wedding would be one of the happiest days of our lives. I assumed that they meant that it would be the best moment together in our relationship, and that we should expect things to go downhill after this one special day. Not the most encouraging thought for the bride to be. Read more…

In just a few hours, I’ll be walking down the aisle. I am thrilled to marry Mr. Taffy- my best friend, the love of my life! I am fairly sleep deprived, and Mr. Taffy is doing even worse in that department, but the outpouring of love by our friends and family that we will experience today is absolutely worth the lack of sleep!
I want to thank the hive for all of the advice, support and encouragement during our engagement!!! You ladies are amazing. Read more…

My upcoming bachelorette party has given me the cause to hunt through my vintage clothing collection, most of which has been buried at my mom’s house through the years. The 1950s dress up party-theme is perfect for me, as it validates all the years I spent scouring thrift stores for fun vintage finds.
Today I will share some of the things that I will be bringing for the dress up rack. I am hoping to change every hour, because I want to wear everything! I also found a great dress (one that I thought I had lost) for our rehearsal.
First up: A vintage wedding dress! My Taffette of honor gave me this dress for my birthday about six years ago, I think. I love the sleeves!

I’m excited to show you Mr. Taffy’s idea for his groom’s cake. You may remember that he proposed to me by hiding the engagement ring on a 7″ record. Mr. Taffy wanted to reference his method of proposal, along with his love for vinyl, through his very own cake.
We thought about scanning the actual record that he played while proposing, but we decided to make a personalized label instead. 530 S. State is the address of our venue; our wedding city and date is the “recorded in and on” text, etc. I love how he wrote “High Fidelity” as a reference to our wedding vows. He wrote “arranged by M. Taffy”, because he planned the engagement and the groom’s cake. And did you see the words Mrs. Taffy? Whoo! Read more…

This project was delightfully quick and simple. I wish they could all be like this!!! My friend and I made about twelve of these, which will be placed on the front row chairs during the ceremony.
Materials:
Cardstock
Printer
Paper Trimmer, scissors or X-Acto
Ribbon
Decorative Paper Punch (I used a Martha Stewart punch)
Adhesive Photo Squares
To begin, I printed ‘Reserved’ in our font, Kon Tiki Enchanted. Read more…

Things are getting crazy in the Taffy household. I have been hosting one Craft-O-Rama after another, and will try to bust out as many posts as I can these last few, um… days. Eek!
A while back, I posted about my flower indecision. I am happy to report that I have chosen white tulips for our centerpieces, Today’s tutorial is regarding the vases, which are wrapped in black ribbon.

I already shared my bachelorette party invite… now it’s Mr. Taffy’s turn! He got this in the mail last week:
His brother designed these and printed them on the Gocco. I love them! Mr. Taffy used his crazy Photoshop skills to change his name for Weddingbee, but kept the Gocco-printed look. Read more…

Look what the postman brought to my mailbox today!
My bachelorette party invite! I haven’t been involved with the planning and was delighted to see that it will be a 1950s-themed costume party. I looove to dress up, so I am super excited. And even though I am up to my eyeballs in planning (two and a half weeks to go, ladies!), I am spending my time thinking about costume inspiration. Read more…

Last weekend, my friend Miss K came over to help me make this DIY backdrop for the portrait booth at our reception. This project was so much quicker than I ever thought it would be, and was really fun to make. Here is a cropped picture of the top… don’t mind the brush strokes showing through the sunlight… our photographer’s lights should not show any brush strokes.

Ever since I decided against designing and making my own dress, I have been really excited to design and make my veil. I was extremely inspired by some of the lovely cathedral length veils that fellow bees have worn. Armed with yards of tulle, I started my veil journey. It would have been easier if I had my dress at home… guessing on length and the shape of the bottom of the veil was a bit tricky.
First, I asked a friend to come over and model so I could do the draping. My dress form is headless!
Draping the veil was really easy, since I didn’t want to gather the tulle. Here it is, after I trimmed the sides, with pieces of tape marking the center. Don’t mind the soup cans on the floor, I use them as fabric weights. A tutorial will be coming soon!
Mr. Taffy, no peeking!!! I’m not hiding these veils in the back of my closet for nothing! Read more…

Like many brides to be, I have had a really difficult time finding a wedding band. To be honest, we didn’t think about the wedding band while designing my engagement ring. I wanted a really low setting, but didn’t think about how that would affect a wedding band from fitting next to it. Here are some images of my engagement ring:
I originally wanted a very thin, simple white gold band. Read more…

About shoes, that is. After months of searching for the perfect blue shoe, I gave up on looking and bought a pair of dyeables from the new Lela Rose Unforgettable Moments collection. I chose the “Jackie” style.
Here they are, in Oasis, which perfectly matches our wedding colors!
