Like a lot of you, I’m not really all that into the idea of the garter toss. I was planning from the start to leave it out of our wedding festivities, certain that no one would miss it. But I was wrong. And the one who swore up and down he would miss it the most? None other than Mr. Tiramisu.
“How can we not do the garter toss?” he questioned.
“I’ve never been to a wedding that didn’t have it!” he insisted.
The man sees no reason for linens, menus, programs, heck even flowers, but don’t take away his garter toss! So I relented. And now I have this embarrassment to look forward to-

I’d like to introduce you to two of the most excited flower girls ever:
I’ll call the older one “A” and the little toothless one there is “C”.
These two cuties are Mr. Tiramisu’s cousins (A. is his Goddaughter as well), and I have no doubt that they will play their roles as flower girls flawlessly! They take their jobs very seriously, and ever since we asked them to be in our wedding, they have reminded me about it on every occasion where we’ve seen them. Their Mom and I have been emailing back and forth about flower girl dresses for awhile now, and I think we’ve finally settled on this one from Flower Girl Dress For Less:

A lot of ideas have passed through my little head about table numbers. For a long time I wanted to do photos of Mr. T and I at the age that corresponded to the number of the table, like this gorgeous example. When those photos proved hard to track down (Mr. Tiramisu is one of five… it’s tricky to dig through so many piles of photos!), we thought about photos of places we had traveled or were important to us. At one point we considered photos that featured our dog, Duncan, posed with signs showing our table numbers. With time quickly slipping away before the wedding, I decided to go with the obvious choice that is right in front of us- our engagement pictures (all photos taken by the lovely Girls With Big Cameras).

I’m following Miss Cherry Pie’s lead, getting in my car, and making the looooong drive to my wedding location! After a stop in Philadelphia tomorrow, I’ll be on the road to Maine. On the agenda is my first dress fitting(!), a hair and makeup trial, a meeting with the florist, meeting with the rental company to choose linens, stuffing our invitation envelopes, and mailing them out! Fortunately I’ve got a couple of weeks to get all of that done.
Since I’ve been planning from here in Maryland for months, I’ve accumulated quite the pile of wedding stuff. It’s been slowly taking over our dining room, but the time has come to move it to Maine. I’m sure my mom is super excited about all of it showing up at her house in a couple of days- and adding to the piles that I’ve already had shipped straight there.
Take a look and let me know if you think it’s all going to fit in my Honda Civic… and my wedding dress is coming along too!

Mr. Tiramisu graced my left hand with an engagement ring almost exactly one year ago (we celebrated our one year engage-aversary last Thursday! and yes I’m pretty sure that is a word), and now it’s almost time to add another ring to the finger- and one to his as well.

Animoto is this great slideshow making tool that I found out about on the Soiree Special Events blog. I tested it out by uploading some of my favorites from the engagement shoot we had with Girls With Big Cameras. It turned out so cool that I wanted to share it with you all! It’s super easy to use - basically you just upload your pictures, choose music to set the slideshow to, and voila! It’s free for a 30-second slideshow. I decided to pony up the three bucks to try out the full-length version, and here’s what I came up with:

I thought the invitations were done. The reason I thought that is because I finished printing them, assembling them, and had placed them carefully in a big plastic storage case ready to be put in their envelopes and mailed next week. Seems reasonable enough, right? Here’s the problem…
You might remember that when I first showed the designs for our invites, the RSVP card had spots where guests could indicate if they were planning to attend the “Saturday wedding” and the “Friday welcome dinner”. Here it is:Read more…

As promised, here are some more pictures of Carolyn and Josh’s wedding in Philadelphia. The reception was held at the beautiful Glen Foerd Mansion on the Delaware River. Carolyn and Josh arranged a bus that made two trips from the Omni Hotel in Philly out to Glen Foerd- first to take them and the bridal party, then to bring the guests. During our extra time we took pictures on the grounds of the mansion.

I had so so so much fun this weekend helping my friend (and MOH) Carolyn celebrate her wedding to her college sweetheart, Josh in Philly. They were married at Old St. Joseph’s Church, which needed very little decoration to be beautiful. Read more…

I’m off to Philly for the weekend for my MOH Carolyn’s wedding (eeeeeeeeeeeeee! I’m so excited! And let’s get some collective fingers-crossing that the weather holds out for her!). But first, this has been on my mind and I’m wondering if I’m the only one…
I started reading weddingbee sometime last summer, but didn’t get up the nerve to apply to be a bee until this past winter. Part of the reason was that I was a little scared of all you crazy strangers out there reading about my personal stuff. Mr. Tiramisu was a little concerned too, and I still don’t think he’s totally psyched about all the pictures I post of him. (And I’m about to post another- ha!). But I’m sort of over it now, and I lurrrrve being a bee, so it’s worth it to lose a little of the wedding secrecy. (And all you crazy strangers have turned out to be awesome in the advice and support department!)
Here you go Mr. Tiramisu- a totally incognito picture of you:

Choosing a first dance song was one of the toughest decisions Mr. Tiramisu and I have made so far. We are both really into music, and we wanted to choose the perfect song for the occasion. There is no “our song” in our relationship, although there are a lot of songs that have been important to us over the years.
Here we are dancing the night away at a wedding last summer. I shortly after dumped that martini down the back of some poor unsuspecting wedding-goer. Mr. Tiramisu now makes me finish my martinis before hitting the dance floor

We haven’t sent our invitations yet, but we received our first RSVP today via email:
“Hello soon-to-be-married friends!
Rather than fill out the various cards that I have received requesting I RSVP for your wedding, let this serve as my official response of YES. I’ll be coming, and am excited to attend. If there is some sort of dinner option, my preference is (in order): Steak, Fish, Chicken. I can’t wait to see you and {insert fiance name} tie the knot!
Sincerely,
T. Baxter
