I’m taking a break from my double-stick-tape-covered invite assembly marathon to finally post these! Now that they’re done, I’m actually a little nervous to show them off… I’ve been working on them for so long! I’m excited to stop thinking about them and just finally get them mailed out.
Drumroll please…

I went to the post office yesterday to get one of my finished invitations weighed. I was happy to find out that it was well under 2 ounces weighing in at a featherlight 1.20 ounces. The friendly postal employee even tested its thickness and I am happy to report that it fit easily through the test slot, saving me from the lumpy-bumpy surcharge (I’m pretty sure that’s the technical USPS term).

There are so many superstitions surrounding weddings. And most are completely ridiculous. Check out how doomed the Tiramisus are:
When to Marry
Marry when the year is new, always loving, always true, When February Birds do mate, you may wed or dread your fate If you wed when March winds blow, joy and sorrow both you’ll know Marry in April when you can, joy for maiden and for man, Marry in the month of May, you will surely rue the day, Marry when June roses blow, over land and sea you’ll go, They who in July do wed, must labour always for their bread, Whoever wed in August be, many a change are sure to see, Marry in September’s shine, your living will be rich and fine, If in October you do marry, love will come but riches tarry, If you wed in bleak November, only Joy will, remember, When December snows fall fast, marry and true love will last. My invitations are almost done! I did all of the inserts first, leaving the invitation itself to gocco last. I did all of my inserts (Reception card, RSVP card, and website info card) on 4-bar sized paper, which is small enough to fit on my PG-5 Gocco print pad, making registration very simple. For all of the inserts, I simply lined the corner of the card up with the corner of the print pad, and everything came out perfectly centered.
The invite itself, however, was on A6 sized paper (4.5 x 6.25). I definitely wish that I had the PG-11 with the built-in registration guides when it comes to stuff like this, but it was twice the price of my machine! Here’s my very simple method for making your own registration guide for slightly oversized paper.
Step one:
From the paper you want to print on, trace and cut out a rectangle in the size of the print pad (4.5 by 6.25). Make sure it’s perfectly centered (if you want your printed image to be centered).

There are lots of things I could definitely splurge on if I had the resources- extravagant ceiling-high floral arrangements? a fancy martini bar with unlimited choices? Manolos or Brian Atwood heels? Yes, yes, and yes, please. One of the most fun for me to dream about is elaborate out-of-town bags for our guests. A quick glance at the (ever-growing) guest list shows that 90 of our 128 invited parties hail from outside the great state of Maine, so this will certainly remain but a dream. If I could though, I would love to shower them all with baskets full of gourmet Maine goodies and fun trinkets to remind them of their time in Vacationland.
To start, I’d get each guest one of L.L. Bean’s new Tidepool Boat and Tote bags: Read more…

I’ve mentioned a few times that I was a little nervous about being the center of attention at my shower. So I wasn’t surprised in the least to see these pictures after the event…

Way back in November, before I was a bee, I was getting my daily (ok, maybe more like three to four times at least) dose of weddingbee when I noticed an ad for free engagement photography in Washington, DC in the classified section. We hadn’t yet decided if engagement photos were going to fit into our budget, so I couldn’t believe how perfect of an opportunity it was. I replied just as fast as I could (they said it was in under three minutes!), and was thrilled to receive a quick response saying that we were one of the lucky three couples to win a free engagement session!
Girls With Big Cameras is a Washington, DC based company run by three friends- Claire, Grace, and Loun-Loun (aka L2) with a passion for photography. We met up with Claire and Grace on Sunday, and they were kind enough to travel here to Annapolis for our shoot- and even let us bring our schnauzer, Duncan, along. Mr. Tiramisu and I had no idea what to expect, so we were very relieved when we found out how awesome both girls were at making us feel comfortable in front of a lens, setting us up for shots without making us feel posed, and scouting out some great locations in our familiar surroundings. Here’s a sneak peek at our shoot:

This past weekend was a busy one - not only did we have our engagement photo shoot on Sunday, I also had my bridal shower on Saturday. Seven of Mr. Tiramisu’s mom’s closest friends hosted this most amazing event! I was a little nervous going into the party, and they knew it, so they did everything in their power to make the day perfect.
I was happy to see everyone was wearing their nametags! Although I had met everyone at least once before, I am so terrible with names. I didn’t need a nametag, however- there’s no mistaking the bride when she’s wearing a veil:
My maid of honor, Carolyn, and I. Carolyn had the hair trial for her wedding right before the shower - looks fabulous, no?

One of my most favorite trends in weddings these days is the pop of color that so many brides are adding to their traditionally all-white ensemble. You all know that my little dash of color is going to come from my blue shoes (when I find that perfect pair that is). I’m also choosing to go with blue flowers instead of an all white bouquet.
Lots of brides dye their crinoline to match their color scheme, and I’m so impressed at this example:
There are lots of places to add color to your ensemble, whether it’s your shoes, flowers, an awesome piece of jewelry, or even the dress itself! Are you going all white, or will there be a little pop somewhere?
