Mr. Tiramisu is exactly 2 months and 25 days younger than me. A laughable difference right? Yeah, except for the fact that our wedding date falls between our birthdays, making me 27 and him 26 on our wedding day. Why does this bother me so much? Mr. T *loves* that he’s younger and takes every opportunity to point it out to anyone who will listen! But it’s all in good fun and he only does it to get a laugh. Mostly I think I’m hung up on the wedding announcement, and I don’t even know if we’ll be having a wedding announcement, but you know, “Miss Tiramisu, old, and Mr. Tiramisu, not old, were married last Saturday…”.
Are you younger or older than your fiance? Does it bother you that you’re younger or older?

To get started on the venue search, I turned first to the good old knot.com. Mostly I just get annoyed by the knot’s unhelpful and totally generic advice and outdated “new trends! candy buffets and sparkler sendoff!” tips, but one area that I do think is useful is the local vendors and community sections. Even though I spent my whole life in Maine, there were many beautiful spots that I had never heard of or visited.

I decided on a blue color scheme early on, and tried a couple of times to make an inspiration board, like the ones I had seen on so many websites, to tie all of my ideas together. I wanted a casual classic (eh, doesn’t everyone?) feel to the event, and I wanted to have an overall ocean/coast theme without resorting to seashells and sand everywhere. No offense to traditional beach brides, because it can be so lovely, but growing up in Maine, a good majority of weddings I’d been to had this theme. I really wanted something unique.
I cannot imagine trying to plan a wedding without the internet. Of course I was hooked on weddingbee the moment I discovered it, but there are many other wedding blogs that have been totally indispensable in the planning. For inspiration, I turned to Snippet & Ink. Kathryn, who runs the site, was sweet enough to put together a beautiful mood board for me… and it’s perfect! I’m definitely going to try my hand at making those adorable sea glass candle holders. Here it is: (click to enlarge)
Hi everyone!
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to be a bee! I’ve been grinning ever since I heard from Mrs. Bee yesterday morning. So why tiramisu? Well first of all let me say that I’m thrilled to be in the “dessert generation” of bees. I could have just been Miss Dessert and covered them all, but I do love me some tiramisu. It literally translates to “pick me up”, and so I’m going to do my best to be one peppy little bee for you all (are you glad I said that and didn’t go with the Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman version of “pick me up”?).
Mr. Tiramisu and I are planning a July wedding in my home state of Maine, from his home state of Maryland, which I call home now too (got that?). It was important to us both to have an oceanfront venue, and as you’ll see in one of my upcoming posts about the search, what that ended up meaning is basically us renting a lawn and building our wedding from the ground up! We’re now determined to make it as unique and “us” as possible. I’m excited to share it all with you, from all of the researching and decision making, to the details and crafting. It isn’t always pretty when I attempt a project, but I guess that’s half of the fun!
