I like this post for a couple reasons. The obvious reason is that it recaps the actual moment that Mr. Toucan and I were wed. The other reason I love this post is because I think it’s a cute story that goes to show that sometimes the things that go “wrong” on your wedding day end up being the most memorable and cherished moments!

So many times, we, as brides, talk about wedding perfection. After having our “perfect wedding,” I can tell you it’s the little hiccups along the way that make it memorable. Our ceremony hiccup was probably the most memorable of them all - after all who almost forgets to… oops! Actually, let me start from the beginning.
After waiting in the downstairs chapel for what almost felt like an eternity, we were finally ready to get hitched!

A little less than 1 month ago, I decided to try to curb my little shopping addiction.
No buying clothes or shoes for 1 month.
Sounds easy, right?
And yet, I failed. Perhaps it wasn’t so smart to do this before we had our anniversary shoot?
You see, we went shopping to see if we could get an outfit for the Hubs. We just wanted to pick up a few accessories for him to sport, and then there they were…the cutest shoes…

So, I was going to write this whole coming-out-from-under-my-shell/hello-I’m-coming-back-to-my-internet world post. Except I got scared. It’s weird to not write for so long and then try to get back into it. Or maybe I was just being lazy. Either way, I had to skip all my excuses because the Mister and I had our anniversary shoot yesterday (yes, a few months late) with the fantastic Agnieszka Wormus from A Brilliant Photo.

Sometimes I get so excited about a gift to hubby that I give it to him early.
Mr. Toucan once mentioned that he wishes he had some cuff links for his work shirts, as opposed to the little rope knots that he usually uses. I knew of the perfect place to get him some cuff links, and planned to give these babies to him in October for our 8 year dating anniversary:

On Tuesday, the Mister and I had our Anniversary Photo Session with NY photographer, Chris Chen. Because of all the rain and gloom that had descended on the Northeast of late, we chose an indoor location for our shoot — the beautiful Liberty Hotel.

For our paper anniversary, I stuck to the theme and bought The Mister 1 share of Disney Stock from FrameAStock.com. FrameAStock.com allows you to purchase a single share of stock and an actual stock certificate that can be framed as a gift.
I had the one share of Disney framed along with a little plaque that read, “Happy 1st Anniversary. Thanks for all the magical memories, and may there be many more to come!” I think he really liked it!

When thinking of gifts to give each other for our anniversary, we both tried to stick to the traditional 1st year gift theme of paper (anniversary gifts by year).
Before I tell you what Mr. T’s gift to me was, I should explain that it is usually very hard for him to buy gifts for me. I think I have some sort of ESP that only applies to Mr. Toucan. I always guess what my gifts are. This time, I had absolutely no idea until about 30 seconds beforehand.
Sometime during the 3rd inning of the Red Sox/Texas Rangers game on Sunday (also, tickets are paper!), all of a sudden the Mister grabbed my camera, gave it to my friend, and said, “Take a picture of us.”
This was weird because, we already had taken about 10 pictures of us earlier in the game. It got more weird when Jess kept taking pictures. Like about 10 in a row. Read more…

I think our first anniversary was probably a little different from most, in a sense that we spent all day celebrating it with family and friends!
We started our day by going back to our reception venue, Jin Asia Cuisine Restaurant, for a dim sum brunch with my parents and sisters. It was somewhat surreal being there. The last time we were there, we were introduced as a new Mr. and Mrs.!

Yesterday, Mr. Toucan and I celebrated our first anniversary. It’s hard to believe that one year has gone by! Back in November during Thanksgiving weekend, Mr. Toucan and I had another photo session with our wedding photographer, Robert Mirani.
