For this Valentine’s Day, I found Mr. Toucan the BEST present EVER*. I’ve decided to enter him into the Husband of the Year Contest**. Unfortunately, I am sad to report that our entry was disqualified since we aren’t married yet (boo! silly technicality!). Anyway, after seeing the results, I’m not sure he would have stood a chance anyway!

While I don’t really rely on the Knot checklist, I do check it from time to time. After all, it’s fun to check off things! However, there is one thing that has been on the top of the list for MONTHS that I’ve been trying to check off, but haven’t been able to.
The guest list. Getting the guest list together has been more complicated than I imagined. Since our wedding is mostly family, I had a general idea of who was on the guest list, so the fact that I hadn’t received a list from my parents was fine - until now. I’m getting ready to send out invitations, so as you might imagine, I actually need to know who I am inviting!
Finally, I asked my dad about the list again, and out spilled another complication. First, I got the usual, “Why do you need to know right now?” Then, the rest of the exchange:

On Saturday, Miss Bubblegum, Mrs. Corn and I met up with 3 awesome readers to see 27 Dresses! We were pretty hard to miss as a group, as I’m pretty sure we were the only ones taking pictures, um yeah, inside the theater! Here we are anxiously awaiting the movie to start:

It was a sad night in Toucanland. And a happy one for the 95% of football fans (I am well aware of the hatred towards Boston sports).
Sunday night, we held a small football party. We were really loud. And then, at the end, really quiet. After all our guests left, I sadly started cleaning up. Mr. Toucan got up and walked to the bedroom. I assumed he went to quietly sulk by himself.
A couple minutes later he emerged - like this: Read more…

Before our trip to Hong Kong, I was told by many people to go check out the wedding mall.
What?! There’s a wedding mall?!Oh yes, in Hong Kong, there’s a whole mall dedicated to wedding stuff.
Why isn’t there one in the US? Beats me - there should be wedding malls everywhere!
Anyway, at the news of the the existence of this wedding mall, I felt obligated to go. After we finished touring for the day, I dragged Mr. Toucan and some others on to the subway to go here: Read more…

… and sports nuts like me!Miss Peacock’s post from yesterday reminded me of my own alternative to keeping my ring safe. I always take off my ring when I’m cooking or cleaning, so I needed a little holder in the kitchen to keep my ring safe. How tragic would it be if it actually fell down the drain!?
Then one night, Mr. Toucan presented me with a little gift - the most awesome idea (to me at least) for a ring holder ever:
Ta-dah! Presenting Mr. David Ortiz, aka BIG PAPI, the large father. (please be nice about my sports affiliations! I’m locally tied to them - I can’t help it!)

I LOVE our engagement pictures, so I really wanted use them to make a guest book, however I also really wanted to go the traditional Chinese route and use the traditional red silk embroidered signing cloth. I really tried to convince myself that we could have two guest books. But then, Mr. Toucan slapped some sense into me - no one is going to sign two guest books. He’s completely right. I had to chose one or the other. In the end we opted for the signing cloth and bought this one in Hong Kong:

I like to think I’m a pretty laid-back bride. Little bumps in the road don’t phase me. I’m also the type of bride that loves sharing my ideas about our wedding. I like talking about weddings in general. I admit I’m the type of person that can yak on and on about weddings (mine, hers, some stranger’s). It just really excites me!
Unfortunately, it’s my yapping that caused this thing to rear its ugly little head:
Oh yes, BRIDEZILLA. I had my first minor bridezilla moment.

This morning Mr. Toucan and I started talking about our vacation schedules and how much time we planned to take off before the wedding (Mr. Toucan’s job requires a lot of notice for vacations). I am planning on taking the 3 days before the wedding off, while Mr. Toucan was planning on taking just the day before off. Notice the word “was” in that sentence.

Since I was planning all along to have our invitations printed in Hong Kong, I hadn’t gone into any invitations stores before our trip to Joy Card. I had only looked at countless invites online for inspiration, so I admit, I wasn’t completely prepared and was completely overwhelmed by all the possibilities.
We went through pages and pages of samples until we selected a sample invite as our base and modified it. Then came time for picking type of paper, paper color, fonts, font color, what inserts to include, paper for the inserts, envelopes, so on and so on…
Sitting with our consultant making lots and lots of decisions… Wait… is Little Sister Toucan… is she…?
