After almost 2 months of married bliss, Mr. Toucan is still not used to wearing his wedding ring! I pretend to get mad, and jokingly say he’s “trying to look like a single guy” again! His reaction is so cute, though. He gets pretty upset with himself for forgetting! So, the past week, after he forgot to wear his ring 3 of the 4 days, I made him a sign and hung it up at the door.So far, he hasn’t forgotten to wear it since!
How good is your spouse (or you!) at remembering to wear the wedding ring?

I’ve had a few inquiries about where we ate in Italy, so I decided to write a post ALL about FOOD. Yum! Unfortunately, the number of pictures representing each restaurant here is not an indicator of how good the food is - most likely, it’s only an indicator of how much wine we drank before our food came or how hungry we were when it came.
Let’s start with the restaurants from Venice:
On our very first night in Italy, our hotel recommended us to eat at La Feluca, a restaurant close by our hotel (in the San Marco area). Since it was our very first night of our honeymoon, we remembered to take pictures! While the whole meal was delicious, the highlight of our meal was probably this deluxe appetizer that our waiter convinced us to order:
I don’t actually remember what I ate here…
but it was all seafood, and YUMMALICIOUS.

Remember that cute little Anthropologie dress I wore to the airport when I got into my pre-honeymoon scuffle with the law? Well, after wearing it on the long plane ride over to Italy, I discovered that it was quite comfortable for traveling. It was empire-waisted (and had an elastic back to boot!), and nothing was restricted. I determined that it was an excellent dress to wear on the way to Rome. However, I’ve discovered that said cute Anthropologie dress equaled bad luck for travel. No, I didn’t break any Italian laws (luckily), but the day we left for Rome, the rail workers decided to go on strike. Every now and then, they would cancel a train. And guess what? They canceled our train- 5 minutes before we were supposed to be boarding it!
So what now? We asked the guy at the information desk, who tells us we can use our tickets on the next train to Rome. We then were informed by one of the ticket checkers on said next train that there was no way we could get on the train because it was full. Read more…

Knowing that we were planning on having kids at our wedding, I decided to make little activity kits to keep them out of trouble. I bought these colorful lunch box looking plastic cases for $2 each at Michaels: Read more…

While I pretty much bought all my attendants’ gifts early, Mr. Toucan, well… didn’t. He wanted to find something really good for them, but was having a really hard time finding what exactly that was…
Around mid-March, I decided to help Mr. Toucan out. My favorite t-shirt store, Threadless was having a “Spring Cleaning Sale,” and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy one of these shirts for each of the groomsmen (and also one for my groom!):
As you can imagine, like Mr. Toucan, his dearest friends are pretty big gamers themselves. They all got a kick out of the t-shirts, and at $9 each, it was a definite score!

I know I haven’t posted any wedding pictures, I’m waiting to get all the proofs back before I go into full recap mode. But since you’ve all been waiting so patiently, I wanted to share a few images of me in my wedding dress!
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity of doing a “Day After” shoot with Rachel Hadiashar from MERGE weddings. It wasn’t technically the day after, but I don’t like calling it a “Trash the Dress” shoot because that implies that the dress was trashed or ruined. For a limited time, Rachel was offering this type of shoot free of charge to work on a little project she called “Juxtaposition,” which features real brides in their wedding dresses in interesting locations around Boston. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity to participate, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN!
Rachel just posted a few teaser pictures on her site:

I thought about gifts for my girls months and months before our wedding. I knew I wanted to get some kind of fun bag and stuff it full of goodies. So, when I got an email last fall about a Vera Bradley sample sale in Atlanta, I jumped. Why was I so excited about a sale 1,000 miles away? Because Sister Toucan was in school in Atlanta! The only issue with that… Sister Toucan was my Maid of Honor… and thus, buying herself a gift. Since she offered to go to the sample sale for me, I decided to go for it anyway - she’d only know a part of her gift, and the sale was just TOO GOOD! Thus, 8 months before the wedding, I had part 1 of my BM gifts done:

Other than the little trouble that I got in at the airport, the rest of the trip to Italy went rather smoothly. We boarded our Swiss Air flight, which I LOVED because they gave us Swiss chocolate (I guess I’m pretty easy to please!), and we were off to Venice!
Though Mr. Toucan and I both didn’t get much sleep on the plane (we took a night flight out of Boston so that we didn’t have to rush our day-after-BBQ), we arrived in Venice bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Alternatively titled, “The New Mrs. Toucan Gets In Trouble with THE MAN.”
Normally, people don’t write about leaving for their honeymoon. It’s usually not too exciting, and there isn’t much of a story…but our story…
I should say, I’m super embarrassed about writing this, but I will because then it’s documented about what really happened (I’m sure future versions of this story told by Mr. Toucan will be MUCH more exaggerated).
The super excited Toucans looking forward to newly-wedded bliss and vacationing in Italy.
