I thought about gifts for my girls months and months before our wedding. I knew I wanted to get some kind of fun bag and stuff it full of goodies. So, when I got an email last fall about a Vera Bradley sample sale in Atlanta, I jumped. Why was I so excited about a sale 1,000 miles away? Because Sister Toucan was in school in Atlanta! The only issue with that… Sister Toucan was my Maid of Honor… and thus, buying herself a gift. Since she offered to go to the sample sale for me, I decided to go for it anyway - she’d only know a part of her gift, and the sale was just TOO GOOD! Thus, 8 months before the wedding, I had part 1 of my BM gifts done:

Other than the little trouble that I got in at the airport, the rest of the trip to Italy went rather smoothly. We boarded our Swiss Air flight, which I LOVED because they gave us Swiss chocolate (I guess I’m pretty easy to please!), and we were off to Venice!
Though Mr. Toucan and I both didn’t get much sleep on the plane (we took a night flight out of Boston so that we didn’t have to rush our day-after-BBQ), we arrived in Venice bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Normally, people don’t write about leaving for their honeymoon. It’s usually not too exciting, and there isn’t much of a story…but our story…
I should say, I’m super embarrassed about writing this, but I will because then it’s documented about what really happened (I’m sure future versions of this story told by Mr. Toucan will be MUCH more exaggerated).
The super excited Toucans looking forward to newly-wedded bliss and vacationing in Italy.

Ok, I’m not going to lie. This is a complete cop out post. I know I promised recaps of our honeymoon and other pre-wedding stuff that I never posted, but truth of the matter is that I just haven’t had the time!
I really thought things would get back to “normal” after the wedding was over. You know, the part when I stop running around like a crazy mad-woman. But, when I got back from our honeymoon there was just so. much. stuff. I’m totally slammed at work and catching up on with all my projects (I guess they missed me?). We’re still not fully moved into our new place, never mind being unpacked and settled in. And soon, I’ll be starting up summer courses again! I’m starting to feel like I’m more stressed now than before the wedding!
When do things get “normal” again? Does life ever slow down?

The last two weeks have been like a fairytale. So fairytale like, that even after 2 weeks, it’s still hard to believe that we’re married! I mean there’s the obvious changes, like this…

The Toucans are getting married today. WE are getting married. Us. It’s finally our turn, and I cannot believe it. We’ve been together for almost 7 years now, and planned our wedding for 15 long-yet-short months. It’s here. It’s our turn. And I couldn’t be more excited!!!
Today, I marry Mr. Toucan - my best friend, my love, the most wonderful person I know. I don’t even know how I could possibly be this lucky. As much planning as I’ve put in this, I know that in the end, the only thing that matters is that I see his face waiting for me down our long aisle. Just that makes it perfect.
So today, I officially will sign off as Miss Toucan. Next time you hear from me, I’ll be a MRS.!
Thank you, Weddingbee readers for letting me share this with you.
Love,
Miss Toucan

OoOoOoh…. Aaaaaaah…. it smells really good in the Toucan parents’ basement right now. We just got our shipment of peonies from Bridgewater Gardens.
They got shipped to us mostly closed, and after half a day, they are starting to open and bloom! Like many, many other brides I LOVE peonies. Miss Toucan is happy!

Miss Toucan’s been a busy busy bird, so I’m lumping some of my paper projects together in one post!
First - Table cards:
Since poor Mr. Toucan hasn’t had very much say in some of the wedding details, so he named all the tables. And wouldn’t you know it - Nintendo characters! The table cards themselves aren’t that exciting - I just printed out pictures of each character and made a little table tent. Read more…

Like… I love love LOVE coffee. But I gave it up - for the sake of the wedding. Completely for aesthetic reasons (I want white teeth!), I have put myself through pain and suffering, and have not consumed a single drop of coffee. I know instead of giving up coffee, I probably could have just started drinking it out of a straw, but to me, that sounded like a throat burn waiting to happen… so I just gave it up (and it wasn’t easy). If only I could get my caffeine intake via IV: Read more…

I’ve figured this out about myself. I’m a procrastinator. Even worse, I’ve convinced myself that I work better under pressure and therefore can justify procrastinating. This is probably completely false, but I like to try to believe it anyway. Anyway, this post wasn’t supposed to be about procrastinating, but instead about one of the projects that I procrastinated on doing - our wedding programs.
I had these lofty ambitious goals to do fan programs like Mrs. Bellpepper and Mrs. Plum but since we didn’t get our act in gear to actually figure out the whole program (music, who reads what, etc.), the project was delayed. By the time we had everything in place, I thought it best to save my sanity and not have to worry about all that cutting! Instead I came up with a far simpler easier program:

A few weeks ago, Mr. Toucan went to church and picked out our wedding music (I was not feeling well that day, so instead of pushing off the appointment, Mr. Touc went by himself). It’s not super exciting to pick out church music, so why am I posting about it? Because I’ve finally succeeded in uploading onesuperfantastic littleclipof Mr. Toucan on YouTube.
First, I have to tell you a little more back story. After the church music director emailed us the list of songs that Mr. Toucan picked, we had our own private listening party. When I first heard the song that Mr. Toucan had picked for the Bridal Entrance, I thought it had a weird tempo to walk down the aisle. I was trying to prove my point by pretending to walk down the aisle, when Mr. Toucan brushed me aside to show me how it’s done (please excuse all the moving boxes)…

I haven’t written about our wedding favors in awhile, since I had all of my boxes of tea cups wrapped up months ago. I almost totally forgot about what I was planning on putting inside them - the flowering tea balls!
When we ordered the flowering tea balls in China in December, they ladies in the tea shop vacuum sealed the bags so they would stay nice and fresh. When we were wrapping the boxes, I decided that it was to early to break open the sealed bags of tea… so we waited, and I almost forgot! When I remembered this weekend, I was lucky in the sense that I already had all the supplies I needed to package them.

Hi Hive! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA. Mr. Toucan and I have been in the process of moving into our new place so that it will be ready for us after the wedding. Whether or not this was a good idea or not is undetermined. However for now I will say it’s a bad idea because we have no internet yet and I am going through serious withdrawals.
Anyway, during our breaks from packing and unpacking, Mr. Toucan and I have been doing some serious song-listening. Since Mr. Touc and I never really had “a song”, we’ve had quite a bit of trouble picking one out for our first dance. Finally, and literally almost the last minute (our wedding is soooo close now it’s crazy), we’ve finally agreed on one… and it’s pure cheese. And I love it.
