You knew I had to sneak one more project in there! Yes, I handmade our thank you cards and they were super easy to make, especially when paired with a pint of Shiner and episodes of SVU.

So, there was one DIY project that was amazing, which I ran out of time to blog about, was never photographed, and got rain soaked…but it was still a big hit. I made goodie bags for all the kidlets 10 and under, complete with custom-made activity books, crayons, small toys and trinkets, Goldfish crackers, and Ring Pops.

Here are all most of my DIY projects. They are linked up to the tutorials I previously wrote. However, if there’s a project I don’t have a how-to for and you’d like one, just let me know! Enjoy!
Bells
Ah, my bells. It was the biggest and most time consuming of all my DIY projects, but this project had three purposes (escort card, favor, and send-off item), which made it worth the time. I collected them all off of eBay by buying them in lots. Most were in lots of five or more and came from estate sales.
Each bell had a tag attached to it with the guest’s name and a swatch of their table assignment stitched on it. Yep, I stitched 105 swatches onto little tags, but it was worth it!

More detail shots comin’ at ya! I never really showed you lovelies the desserts, decor, and flowers. Here they are…
Cake and Dessert Table
All of these amazing sweet treats and our six-inch cutting cake were done by Blue Note Bakery. The trays and cake stand were borrowed from friends. I stamped takeout boxes so guests could take the sweets home. We only had a handful left over at the end of the night because they were soooooo good!
Tray with assorted mini desserts: pecan pies, key lime blackberry bars, eclairs, s’mores, and custard tarts.

I didn’t put many detail shots into my recap posts and I received some questions about particular aspects of the big hurrah. So, before I say my farewell, I thought I’d leave you lovely ladies with a short series of detail posts. Enjoy!

When my friend Blue would find herself at the end of a long evening and ready to go to bed, she would say that she was about to turn into a pumpkin. We started calling it “pumpkining” for short.
As the evening drew to a close, Mr. Waffle and I were definitely on our way to pumpkining. Mr Thrill started up our last dance music.

Our reception dance party was phenomenal! There are not enough words to describe how great our DJ was. Seriously, y’all—Mr Thrill was THE BEST! He read the crowd so well and the dance floor was never empty.

Yes, I have skipped over the dinner portion of the day. There are no photos of it, but it was divine!
After our 20 minute cocktail hour, all the guests were seated. Mr Waffle and I took advantage of the “all guests were seated” business to go to each table and say our “hellos” and “thank yous.” This worked out perrrrfectly. I wanted to make sure we were able to talk to everyone that came and having captive tables of people waiting for Royal Fig’s heavenly BBQ to be served up was just the ticket!
Due to the fact that we were running a bit behind, Kristen of Royal Fig suggested a new reception schedule for us and I said “yes” without hesitation because that lady knows her stuff. She and her staff had run everything form their end seamlessly so far and I knew I could trust her expert opinion.
We grabbed our champagne flutes and started with toasts.
Best Man Rock Star kicked it off with a lot of funny one-liners and some embarrassing info on Mr Waffle. Everyone had a good laugh. Read more…

So, this part of the day was the one I was most depressed about a few days following the wedding. The evening before we left for our Hawaiian honeymoon I recall being a ball of tears on our kitchen floor.
Due to the rain delay, we lost cocktail hour. It had gone from a full hour to 20 minutes. It was supposed to be the time where we rushed through family photos, took fun bridal party photos and then bride and groom portraits. All we had time for were stuffy, formal family photos and scarfing down some passed appetizers. We were unable to sneak away for photos of just the two of us on our day. There simply was no time. Our venue and Nadine graciously offered to reschedule a day for us to do bride and groom photos, but I knew in my heart it would not be the same. A special magic hung in the air that day and was clinging to us in a way that would fade in the days to come.
Luckily, when we received our wedding photos, we saw some brilliant shots that were taken in the lost cocktail hour which have since lifted my spirits. Do I still mourn the pictures that could have been? In all honesty, yes. However, I am joyous in what we do have.
Here’s our collection of formals and candids from that small window of time. Enjoy.

To continue with the theme of the memory jars, we had decided that we would seal our vows in a jar after saying them to each other. Captain Toes presented the jar to those assembled and explained its purpose.
Mr Waffle was first. I held the jar and listened to his words…

Hooray! We were finally at ceremony time! Let’s see…where did we leave off? Oh, yes! I had just met Grammy Waffle at the entrance of the tent and had changed from my jellies into my fancy heels.

My friends were doing a super job of keeping me entertained, but I was getting ants in the pants and wanted to get the show on the road! We were supposed to start the ceremony at 6:30 and it was now 7:00.
Magic Alie finally came in and let us all know we were ready for go-time and roughly described what our new ceremony site looked like. This did my brain in a bit. For a year, I knew exactly what the trek down the aisle was going to look like. Now, I had no clue. The control-freak part of me started to panic a little, but “I just wanna get married” me squashed her down and said, “Screw it! Let’s bustle this dress and get hitched!”
