Weddingbee reader Catty posted the following question on the boards, and we thought it was a great way to bring Words of Wisdom back!

I’m meeting with potential photographers tomorrow and Saturday and I was wondering if anyone had a check list or set of interview type questions they used.  What should we be looking for?  What questions need to be asked?

Please provide your best words of wisdom below when it comes to interviewing photographers!

I shudder at the idea of negotiating anything related to my wedding. I want to have good relationships with my vendors and I’m afraid they will think less of me or not give me good service if I ask them to come down on their price or to throw in extras. 

What is the best advice regarding negotiating the price and/or services with vendors? 

What words of wisdom do you have for brides diy’ing their invitations?  What lessons did you learn, and is there anything you wish someone had told you? 

What words of wisdom do you have for brides about choosing their bridesmaids and maids of honor?  What did you learn in the process, and is there anything you would have done differently?

What advice do you have for involving/including the groom-to-be in the wedding planning process?  And what’s the best way to get a reluctant fiance to take an interest?

What are your best words of wisdom for brides looking for their wedding dresses?  What were you surprised/disappointed/excited to find out in your gown shopping adventures?
