Like many other bees, I have been working on ways to develop a detailed beauty plan to get ready for the big day. Just about every wedding timeline I have found suggests starting this plan right around the same time as trying on dresses. Ooops…I guess I am a little late. But hopefully this plan will become habit, and I will have developed a life-long health and beauty regimen.

Deep conditioning my hair once a week.
This one isn’t new to my routine, as I have declared Sunday to be “wash day” in my house. I know you’re thinking, “Wait, you only wash your hair once a week?!” Well, I have very dry and brittle hair, so washing everyday will never work for me. I usually do a mid-week cleanse with apple cider vinegar, and then on Sunday I hot oil, cowash, deep condition, and steam my hair. Yeah, its an all day process. I have also been keeping my hair in protective styles to reduce friction against my heavy winter clothes and cold winter air.
DIY at-home facial once a week.
While I am already in the pampering mood on Sundays, I also follow this great DIY facial from SIFA’s Corner. This will be my third week adding this to my weekly regimen, and I can already feel how much smoother my skin is. I usually combine cleansing and exfoliating by using St. Ives Apricot Scrub, since my face is pretty sensitive to excessive cleansing, and then I hold my head over a bowl of hot water and place a towel over my head. I am usually doing this while I still have the deep conditioning cap on my hair, so I get some of the benefits of the extra steam for my hair, too. And then I mask, then moisturize.
100 ounces of water a day.
Yeah, it sounds like I am being an overachiever since eight glasses is only 64 ounces, but since I still go running or workout everyday, and I sweat like nobody’s business, I figure the extra water can’t hurt.
30 minute workout a day.
Speaking of all that sweating, I am making sure to commit to my daily workouts again. I took an extended break after my last half marathon, and I can feel the difference when I am trying to get back into working out. Right now I am using a mix of running and fitness DVDs (love me some Beachbody, lol). I find it much easier to slide a 30 minute workout in my schedule everyday rather than to try for an hour or more that will probably leave me too sore to want to come back the next day.
Mr. A got me a fitness tracker for Christmas, and I love being able to see how many steps I am taking throughout the day. Plus, it has a reminder arrow when I have been sitting too long; it’s just the nudge I need to make sure I get up and move every hour.
Slather on body butter twice daily.
I make a body butter out of coconut oil and shea butter that I found on A Table for Two, and I usually add olive oil and vitamin E to the mixture as well. I slather this concoction on in the morning and at night, focusing a lot on my hands (ring shots), arms and back (strapless dress), and feet (pretty shoe pics).
And that’s it for now. I am sure as I get closer, I will start incorporating more into this plan (like a monthly manicure), but for now, I am enjoying this.
