Mr. D and I really wanted to make sure that we got individual pictures with each of our bridesmaids and groomsmen. These people are our nearest and dearest, and the fact that they were there for us on the biggest day of our lives (so far!), was a huge blessing. So Mr. D and his merry band of men took the first shot:
I’m going to try and just briefly put a name and relationship to each person, but Mr. D’s best man needs a special introduction since he really hasn’t yet. Mr. D and his best man were roommates all four years of college, played football together, and still carry their bromance long distance to this day. His wife and I have always jokingly referred to them as being each other’s mistresses. Whenever we are all together, his wife and I both know that for at least a several hours, they are going to be in each other’s own little world and we have to deal with it.
Mr. D and J have been friends for a decade now. They love watching college football together and I can often find the both of them on the couch on Saturdays, arguing with each other.
Mr. D and C are also old college pals. C now lives in Nashville and whenever an NFL game is on, they are obsessively texting each other talking football. This is probably the most calm picture of these two in existence.
P has been Mr. D’s friend since Kindergarten. Mr. D was also a groomsman in P’s New Year’s wedding a few years ago, so it was natural that P would also be a part of our day! They also played football together most of their life, thus the Heisman pose.
B is another one of Mr. D’s college posse. This guy can crack you up in a second with his awesome impressions of people he has met during his time as a cop.
Finally, S is Mr. D’s older brother. It was only fitting that this picture would happen because it just fits them so perfectly.
Now my ladies were pretty awesome:
MOH A and I are old college roommates and BFFs for life. This girl is the peanut butter to my jelly, the jam to my toast. She’s pretty freaking awesome. End of story.
S is one of my oldest friends. We were also roommates at one point in college and whenever I’m in town to see MOH A, it’s natural that S completes that trifecta of perfection. S and I have often had our tussles over the years. Typically it ends with S laying the ever-loving fear of God on me, but this day it was my time to get her without fear of her getting me back. It was a sweet victory after 15 years of tussles.
J is also one of my besties. We met when I was leading orientation at the college we both attended. Even though she ended up transferring a few years later, we stayed close friends. I know, I look badass when I chuck those deuces up.
This is my cousin C. She is also the mother of the adorable flower girl and sign dude. This picture is an exact replica of numerous pictures we have taken together as children. Don’t judge me for the open mouth, I was indulging in nostalgic notions.
D is my bestest friend from my time living in Chicago. She was always there to pick me up when I was feeling homesick, or just sad in general. This girl has one of the best senses of humor of anyone I have ever met.
Finally, my baby sister A. We look nothing alike, we act nothing alike, and we scoff when people think we are twins. Ignore our matching laughs and our secret language.
Now, I have a slight confession about this picture. Apparently when I dance without abandon (read: when I’m under the influence of one Jose Cuervo), I tend to don a very sexy duck face and do this weird little pelvic-thrusted-open-handed-fist-pump. Naturally my seester insisted that we recreate this remarkable jig for memory’s sake. I was only too happy to do it (sans the Jose, unfortunately).
Pelvic thrusting done, smiles and jumps put away, it was time to head to the celebration being held in our honor!
