I’m not entirely clear on the details of this since I didn’t see it, but I think the reverend walked in with the groomsmen behind him from the back of the chapel before Mr. Genie walked in. I had decided because of the height disparities between the bridesmaids and the groomsmen (a foot in one case!) that the girls should walk alone down the aisle.
After they filed in, Mr. Genie showed MIL-Genie to her seat, and they were followed by FIL-Genie.
FIL and MIL Genie were both so helpful during the wedding planning. Besides their financial help, it was great to get their input on things and vent when we needed to. We wouldn’t have anything remotely close to our wedding without them.
They were followed by KK, Pow, Sis, and MOH Wino.
BM KK and I are closest in age of the four of us that grew up together, and we used to butt heads all the time. But when we were apart from each other, we hated it, and when she moved to Seattle, I was so bummed out. Even though she couldn’t be at every little wedding event, she came to the big ones, and she even stood in our wedding the day before she graduated from University of Washington’s business school!
BM Pow and I had the pleasure of working and commuting together for the year leading up to the wedding. We’ve always been kindred spirits, and the commute to work has never been the same without her. Who else will bust out O-Town in harmony with me or cry to Christmas time radio giveaways with me?
Being this girl’s big sister has always been a very important job to me. I love her so much and am really proud of her. I’m so glad she could stand with me at our wedding.
MOH Wino is the best friend a girl could have, hands down. She listened to my fifty thousand wedding ideas and concerns. She found my dress. She came over to have a glass of wine and scrapbook when we both needed breaks. She made coasters when I was up to my eyeballs in Scrabble tiles. She threw an awesome shower and bachelorette party, and she always had a smile on her face. And in the last minute, she saved my life and made the ribbon wands. I am going to owe this girl BIG one day.
Following MOH Wino were my niece and nephew, our flower girl and ring-bearer. Our shy little ring-bearer needed some help from his mom, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t lose any of the cute factor.
Judging by the crowd reaction, they were a hit!
As the kiddies made their way up the aisle, I took my place, breathed in a few breaths, gripped my parents’ arms, and tried to hold it together for a very important walk.
