Miss Genie Takes a Turn Down the Aisle

It was my turn. I remember my mom kind of gripping my arm a little tighter. I had decided to walk with both of my parents because I couldn’t really imagine it any other way.

Some latecomers were running up behind us, and I waved, but then my nerves got to me, and everything sort of became surreal.

I locked eyes with a friend who was in the back of the chapel, and she was about to cry. And then I saw everybody in the chapel looking at me. To have 100 pairs of eyes on you can be an overwhelming feeling, especially when they are all people who are very close to you.

This is the beginning of the ugly-cry face. Wayfarers Chapel only has nine or ten rows of pews. And I had a not-so-cute crying face for four or five rows, and then I pulled it together to meet Mr. Genie’s gaze.

And everything was OK then. It was time to get a smile together. This day was about us. And love was all there was.

When we made it to the end of the very short aisle, and I kissed my mom and dad while Mr. Genie came to meet me and walk with me to the altar.

Our hands found each other. And we were finally getting married.

You did a great job of describing the feeling of that very important moment. Your venue – seriously gorgeous! Those are some dramatic shots of the two of you standing at the altar.
