Burnin’ Love: One Last Photoshoot

At this point, we really, really wanted to keep the pictures brief because everyone was quite distracted. We blew through a few configurations of the wedding party to keep things nice and quick.

We started with the groomsmen/brothers (with drinks in hand)—I don’t really know why Mr. Dragon is posing like that.

Then we called EVERYONE over for a nice-ish group photo”¦followed by the classic funny face picture.

We already had a bride/groom/groomsmen picture from the family shots, so we put together a bride/groom/bridesmaid picture to even things out.

The girls look admiringly at Mr. Dragon while I stepped away (except BM Ashley, who looked at him with disgust—he is, after all, going to be her brother-in-law soon!):

They did take a normal one, too.

Remember the heart-shaped glasses I gifted to the ladies? We had to take a picture with those.

Would you be surprised if I told you GM Jesse jumped in? Okay, so, I encouraged him, because I thought it was funny.

Don’t worry, we took a nice, normal photo for good measure.

Mr. Dragon and I didn’t do a lot of posed formals together. I had brought each of our respective newspapers all the way down to Brockville in the trunk of our rental, though, just for this:

Fraternizing with the competition! I emailed one of these over to my office the day after the wedding and came back after our honeymoon to find it posted on the wall.

I had a really brief discussion with Rozy before officially releasing our wedding party from photo duty—together we determined we could probably fill in any blanks during the reception, with candids or quick posed photos. I think we managed to get a lot of those shots, without having to force people to stand around any longer while they were chomping at the bit to party. For instance:

Little girls, with the umbrellas they thankfully didn’t have to use.

Me and Opie, comparing shoes.

SIL Melissa and soon-to-be SIL Ashley!

Besties. 🙂

I missed this lady! P.S. My redneck wine glass snapped in half while I was drinking out of it shortly after this picture, but I didn’t spill a drop of red wine. 🙂

These people were some of the most important guests there. They all took part in getting the yard, tent, and little details put together. They were my wedding fairy godparents and they are awesome, awesome, awesome.

Happy Dragons!

Suspenders are useful.

At one point I found myself miraculously standing alone”¦and I had no idea what to do!

Did we miss out on some shots by directing Rozy to just switch over to candid mode? Yes. Do we mind? I don’t think I really do. I thought for a while, after the wedding, that I wanted more couple shots of us, but really, we have a whole wedding ceremony’s worth.

We started dinner an hour late (which I didn’t realize, because the iPod we were using was still set to central time—I thought we were right on time!) and I can’t imagine having held people up even longer than what we did.

It also, finally, freed us up to eat, which we definitely did. That’s coming next!

Did you spend a long time taking photos? Was it challenging to keep everyone’s attention?

Did you miss a recap?

My husband’s redneck wine glass broke too!! He just continued to drink out of the mason jar all night though, but I was bummed.

Great post, and beautiful pics… thanks for sharing.

LOVE your “competition” shots… so fitting for a guy & gal “on assignment” to get married.

And the little girls with Umbrellas. How adorable !!

Happy to hear that they ended up as “props” and not called into service.

Enjoying your Recaps… looking forward to reading / seeing more.

I definitely want a relaxed wedding like this! Beautiful photos! (:

At the risk of sounding creepy (sorry!)…

What’s really funny is that when I saw the back of the brick house in these photos I knew exactly where you were (when that house went up for sale I really wanted to buy it, so I recognized it from the listing 😉 sadly, we aren’t ready to buy a house yet :() small world!

@MaggieL: Mine broke before the wedding — Dad transported it from South Carolina — and was reglued, but I guess the second set of glue didn’t hack it.
@RapunzelRapunzel: Thank you! The girls did such a great job.
    @Mrs. Pony: That’s what I was hoping for! 😀
@lealorali: It really was, for the most part. We don’t do stuffy!
@This Time Round: I’m glad I made Mr. D grab newspapers on our way out of town! 😛
@sugarpea: That’s so funny! They’re pretty great neighbours from what I know — and they got a cute shot of the wedding out of that window peeking through in the photo, haha.
@Miss Toadstool: It’s on the list to be printed! 🙂

Love the silly candids, yellow dresses, the adorable little girls, and best of all, the newspaper pics of you and the mister! It’s great seeing some personality shine through in the group shots.
