I do not know if I have mentioned it here on the ‘Bee, but my friends and family know that I am in love with the Christmas season. I am usually known to have countdown to Christmas Day on my phone all year long.
My current countdown app, Dreamdays
I always thought my friends just enjoy teasing me about my love of the holidays, but never in a million years did I think they would throw me a dream “Christmas in Spring” bridal shower!
Because of my schedule, Mama A, MOH Big Sis, and Bridesmaid Motivated could not hide the date of the shower from me, but they did an AMAZING job of keeping me in the dark about everything else. That morning, Mr. Angelfish took me to brunch and packed my travel bag, dress, and shoes in the car. I didn’t know where we were going, or what time we needed to be there, so I just impatiently settled in for the ride. After brunch, we rode around for a bit. I found out later that we were really just killing time because I was too nervous to stay long enough at brunch to eat anything. Then we finally pulled up to our wedding venue. I knew we needed to make a payment, so I figured I would just stay in the car while Mr. A ran in to take care of business. That’s when I noticed my mother’s car in the parking lot!
I was ushered into the bridal suite (which I will use in a few weeks to change into the REAL white dress!), and they left me to get ready.
When I was dressed and ready, I tentatively stepped out of the suite, and MOH Big Sis dressed me with a “Bride to Be” sash and rhinestone tiara. Then I walked into the room to hear “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” playing!!!
I am still smiling and overjoyed at all my friends and family attending. And they were so generous with their gifts to us! We received luggage, his and hers towels, SOO many great kitchen items, and a few things that will get me on Santa’s naughty list during the honeymoon. 😉
I especially liked one of the games we played called “gift bingo.” I was really worried about being the center of attention for the shower while opening gifts, so this game helped take some of the eyes off me (and the perceived boredom of hearing me say “awwww” seven million times). Guests were asked to fill out an empty bingo board with items they thought I would receive. Then, as I opened my gifts, they checked the items off until someone got BINGO and won a door prize.
And then it was time for dessert! Next to Christmas, dessert is one of my most favorite things! We had cake (half vanilla, half chocolate), cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, and a wedding-dress cupcake cake! And I boldly sampled each one, essentially throwing my wedding-dress diet out the window. And it was so worth it!
Did you have a themed bridal shower? Was it a surprise, or did you know about it in advance?
