Now that it’s Easter-time, I can start working on the favors for our wedding. What does Easter have to do with it, you might ask? Well, my friends, I will tell you.
Our favors are my all-time favorite candy, Cadbury Mini Eggs (not to be confused with the big Cadbury Creme Eggs). On our first date, Mr. Cream Puff brought me a one-pound bag of these little delicacies because he knew they were my favorite. I look forward to them all year round! Because I am of the opinion that favors need to be edible (I love sweet things and as a guest have no desire to own a heart-shaped bottle-stopper or a silver wedding bell), mini-eggs were a no-brainer.
I bought some gift boxes online last week and got to work last night when I discovered the first bags of mini eggs coming out at our local Safeway. I carefully counted the number of mini eggs that I thought looked good in the box, then calculated how many we would need for 15o boxes (this is a somewhat arbitrary number, as I obviously have no idea how many people will RSVP “yes”). We are going to need over SIXTY POUNDS of mini eggs for these favors! Holy crap!! Shop early, shop often, I say–after all, these babies are only around for a couple of months!
On my exciting discount day at Paper Source, I bought six different colors of satin ribbon for the boxes. I also plan to buy some vellum to make the boxes fancier (the vellum pictured below is a piece of scrap vellum I had lying around–I don’t have the real stuff yet), and close the vellum with a sticker (which I don’t have yet, either–below is just a sample I made). Then I’ll put a little card in to explain the significance of the mini eggs.
BEHOLD! My favors!
