Did anyone else wake up six months out from your wedding and realize, “Crud, I have no idea where to go on a honeymoon.” But you were completely overwhelmed with wedding planning that the thought of planning the logistics of a vacation made you queasy?
Yep, that’s us.
As much as we love to travel, we knew we wanted our honeymoon to be ridiculously easy and brainless to plan. Hello Mr. Cruise. We spent about an hour looking at a few different cruise lines, destinations, and lengths. We paid our deposit and didn’t think about it again until the morning after our wedding.
Literally, Mr. S was a the lobby of the hotel printing out our boarding tickets about 11:45 AM the day of our cruise…
We had no idea what we were doing. We pulled up and saw this beauty:
I always wondered if a cruise would be boring. Umm…this was hardly a problem. Our boat was the Freedom of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean vessel. Instead of dragging this out for many posts, let me give you a summary of what went down.
We relaxed, ate, tanned, drank, giggled about how amazing our wedding was, watched shows, surfed, danced, and just fell more in love. Best trip ever.
After a crazy week of exams and then the wedding, it wasn’t until about day four that Mr. Squirrel was totally relaxed.
We created a few rules for our trip:
1. No planning (We would wake up in the morning and just go where the wind took us.)
2. No feeling guilty about spending money (Order that drink!)
3. No phones (except for these few pictures)
Halfway through our trip, Mr. S came up with a few more rules that I did not agree with:
4. No entering The Sexiest Man contest
5. No entering the belly-flop contest
He would have won. And, I would have some amazing pictures. I turned to alcohol to cope.
I definitely don’t see us becoming that couple who spends every vacation “cruising.” We have too many other places to explore! But for a honeymoon it was absolute perfection. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
I’m sorry, I had to include one:
Who else LOVED their cruise?
Stayed tuned…our professional pics are back! Squirrel recaps are just around the corner!
