Decisions, Decisions! – Dress Decisions

Remember when I showed you all my inspiration dresses for the one I’m making? Well, at that time, I was so focused on finding something I liked that I didn’t pay attention to one little detail—our wedding will be in winter!  Just like I mentioned before in my shoe post, I suffer from a really low tolerance to cold weather. So, I realized that I needed to think about a way to stay warm, but still have the dress of my dreams.

Because I was not 100% sure about the shape I wanted for the top of the dress, I just focused on finishing the bottom part and the undergarments. Later on, I added a splash of color to my crinoline, which made me really happy! But I had decisions to make, as the top needs to be finished, AHORA!

(You already know this is one of THOSE posts, Mr. Poodle!)

So, the inspiration search started all over again, but this time, my lovely readers, it will be just for the top. I wanted to search for options that could work for winter, and these were some of my favorites:

My first Google keywords were “Monique Lhuillier sleeve dress”, and I found these cuties:

But here in the hive there was already a lovely bride that wowed me with her amazing sleeved dress! You know it, Mrs. Glitter!!

I also thought about maybe having short sleeves; that way I wont be too exposed. This is one of my faves too, by my favorite designer ever: Monique Lhuillier.

Later on I found these pictures! How cool is this one strap dress?

But I have to confess that I have an obsession with delicate lace covering the outsides of a dress.

And if I didn’t have man-looking shoulders, I would totally go for something like this.

At first I though I should just make my dress with sleeves so I can be warm. But then I thought about the dancing factor, and let me tell you readers, I will be the the kind of bride that will not stop dancing until my guests kick me out of our wedding, or until Mr. Poodle drags me away (whatever happens first! LOL).

Anyway, with the dancing factor in mind, the long sleeves no longer sounded so appealing in my head. So, I thought I should just go with what I like the most. smile025 I can always make a cute bolero a la Bonzie, right?

Look at these beauties! I can totally picture something like this, either with short or long sleeves.

I know these items are already sold in their Etsy shop, but I saved them a long time ago because they were in our wedding colors!

Do you want to know what I ended up making? Stay tuned, because I’m sewing the last details of my handmade wedding dress! wink04

Did you have to take the weather into account for your wedding dress style? If you’re a winter bride, what are you doing to stay warm?

Miss Poodle, I cannot WAIT to see your dress! And I agree, any excuse to buy a colorful bolero! Maybe after your wedding, I can get you to make me a bolero? I’ll pay, of course. 🙂

For my dress, I really had to keep in mind that we’re getting married in Jamaica, with lots of heat and humidity. so a big poufy dress, or a satin dress was out. I’m super super in love with my dress and so I happy I got it. 🙂
