Ceremony Decor for the Minimalist Frugalista

Mr. Wallaby and I chose our venue because we fell in love with the enormous oak tree on the property. The tree is a showstopper, and we could imagine marrying each other under its big, long, leafy branches in front of all of our friends and family.

Now that we’ve got the venue, decorating is the tough part. Oak Tree Manor is such a beautiful place that I am trying to stick to a minimalist approach so that the decorations don’t take away from the natural beauty of the historic B&B and the landscaping on the property. I browsed through images of other outdoor weddings in search of inspiration for ceremony decor. The following photos are some of my favorites for inspiration.

Rose petals scattered down the aisle, with oversized lanterns as aisle markers:

Mr. W and I haven’t started stockpiling rose petals or oversized lanterns yet, but we have sketched out our vision of the ceremony decor and we’ll start gathering up the materials needed in then next couple months. (I will probably stalk the weekly coupons of JoAnn Fabrics to get a good deal on fabric for draping!)

How would you decorate a tree for an outdoor ceremony? Does anyone know a good place to buy freeze-dried rose petals?

I used http://www.petalgarden.com and loved it. Fast and very cheap shipping.

    Love the venue!

FYI on JoAnns coupons…they will match Michael’s and Hobby Lobby coupons for the % off one item…each one, all at once. Michael’s does the same.
Your ceremony is going to be stunning.

I am in love with the huge oak tree. I think anything you do will work as that’s such a great focal point.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I know, THAT TREE. I don’t feel a need to do much to decorate it, I’m sure it will look lovely rain or shine. We’re going to do the first look pics under it too, I can’t wait for those 🙂

The only suggestion I can make is some people use those little christmas bauble type things to hang from the tree! Otherwise the natural beauty speaks for itself and I think the rose petals would enhance that!
