Engagement Dinner

Wednesday’s engagement dinner with both of our parents went well. It was a bit quiet and awkward at first, but after a couple of bottles of wine, we were laughing and having conversations like “family.” The parents agreed 2006 would be fine and while they talked among themselves, we flipped through the calendar in our cellphones and chose a date. 12.09.06

This save the date was in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

Loooooove the idea of this. It’s simple and seems fairly easy to make. I want to jazz it up a little too with some other things that’ll make it seem more wintery. Speaking of, I can’t believe I’m gonna be a winter bride. I always pictured myself getting married in the fall since it is my favorite season.

Color Themes

Originally, to keep my bridesmaids-to-be happy, I was going to choose black gowns with a colored sash for them. But it could look a bit too depressing and a little too close to my work uniform at M.A.C. So right now, I’m thinking of a deep, royal purple for my ladies.

What other colors can I put together without cheesing out the winter theme?

I love the frosty colors of pale blue and light purple mixed with silver.

I love that Save the Date. You could even make it a little more wintery by adding a snowflake die-cut to one of the ends or both. I think that would be really cute 🙂

Hello and congratulations! I’m also using the same save the date cards. We had difficulty getting the number punches and ended up getting them from ebay. A light blue and a burgandy are cool complementary wintery colors. Good luck!

Hello brides! I’m not getting married anytime soon but I love this blog, and I had to comment on this post. A couple years ago my cheerleading coach got married in January and her bridesmaids wore black dresses and had red rose bouquets. I thought it looked beautiful and she definetly stood out in her white dress!

We had a December 23 wedding and did a deep jade green, royal navy and silver. I might be a bit biased, but I thought it was beautiful. 🙂 I tied in silver with my accessories. My dress was layers of chiffon edged with silver thread, and Swarovski crystals sewn into the bodice and headpiece looked very like ice. Belladonna delphiniums, stephanotis, white orchids and ivy worked great for the flowers.
