Wolve’s Winter Wedding: We Cocktail

Wolfman and I walked upstairs to cocktail hour without much fanfare—it was kind of fun to waltz in like it wasn’t a big deal. I could tell people were surprised to see us!

My newly minted MIL

Our cocktail hour took place in three adjoining rooms and a hallway overlooking the stairs. It’s sort of hard to describe, but it felt very much like we were having people over to our big house—there were old chairs and couches everywhere, and we put out a bunch of candles to make it even more intimate. Mrs. Sparkler commented that it felt very Downton-esque—she kept waiting for someone to ask if she was ready to “go through.” I took this as a huge compliment.

One of two bars upstairs, pre-ceremony

In the library with my pals from my old job

In addition to the bar, we had passed appetizers”¦I was still a little jittery and didn’t eat anything. To this day, I would honestly say this is one of my biggest regrets. Not joking.

In the hallway, close to the other bar

I actually barely saw Wolfman this entire time. We both branched off to hang with our respective family and friends”¦I was really grateful to have a little extra time to greet everyone. I was also glad that “official” photos were done because it meant we got good ones of all of our guests.

Sorry for the photo dump of strangers, but I wanted to show off all the cool details of each room—most of the photos, sculptures, and furniture pieces have a neat history, so it was nice for people to be able to do a little bit of learning while they were drinking and eating. Or at least pretend to.

Sparkler (and MOH Sparkler) sighting!

The venue was able to find these coral linens that nicely matched the little bit of coral touches we incorporated in the paper products. It was a last-minute surprise. (I thought I’d have to pay extra for anything colored—turns out they rent new linens every time so it didn’t matter!)

I wish cocktail hour had lasted four. That’s when it really seemed like a party—guests milling about, laughing, no formal structure. If you have time or can plan to have time to go to your cocktail hour—DO IT.

We had totally planned to attend our cocktail hour, but instead relished the time upstairs to ourselves. Photos and posts like these make me slightly wistful, even though our time was perfect. 🙂

P.S. You are seriously such a cool and stellar looking bride. No joke.

This cocktail hour looks amazing! We didn’t get to attend ours but that was okay! I did get only one bit of food but I was not hungry anyways! The rooms look amazing!
