Mr. Macs had a much more leisurely morning starting around noon with some Five Guys courtesy of groomsmen J.
When everyone finally arrived, it was time to open the first part of their gifts. Their initial enthusiasm was cut short when they realized a) they were shirts and b) they would need a good pressing.
At some point, Mr. Macarons realized my brother was having a little bit of difficulty with his tie so he stepped in to help. I’m not sure what everyone was laughing and smiling about, but I’d like to think it involved cats and other cuddly animals doing funny things, and not “fuzzy balls” (I’ll get to that later”¦).
About a month before the wedding, I had a bit of a panic attack that the shirts and ties weren’t that great of a gift. Yes, they could wear them again, but I couldn’t help think that it’d be like getting socks and undershirts for Christmas. So, we made survival bracelets and then a week later I still didn’t think that was enough.
Enter the custom beer mug. The phrase in the middle, Vi veri veniversum vivus vici means “By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.” I can only assume they were a hit, as the beers started to flow. Mr. Macs had ample time to panic, but I think the guys did a good job keeping him relaxed and entertained while we finished getting ready.
At the last minute I picked up some colorful socks for Mr. Macs. He thought they were too eccentric for his tastes and didn’t see the point in wearing them as no one would ever see them. Au contraire!, Erin managed to capture them and his Rhodesian Selous Scouts watch just before they made their way over to the farm.
