Yes! The ceremony was done and we were officially husband and wife. It was time to “get this party started on a Saturday night” a la Pink. But before we could officially start the celebration and mingle with our guests, we needed to take a few extended-family photos. We had two helpers that ushered our family members along when it was their time to take a photo with us. This helped move things along quickly, and in about 15 minutes we were officially done with posed photos for the day!
Just two of the many family photos we took that day
Unfortunately, I have no photos of our passed appetizers during cocktail hour, but our guests were served pork belly bao, ahi poke on toasted rice cake, and seared scallops with a ponzu caviar. I was busy mingling with guests, but some of my close friends made sure to keep me fed. I found out later that Mr. Eel was able to eat seven scallops!
While some guests mingled, others took the opportunity to sign our guestbook frame.
Our waiters hand-passed appetizers, beer, and prosecco (my favorite) with pink sugared rims. We also had a bar off to the side for guests to order drinks from the bartender on their own.
Guests found their table during cocktail hour via a seating chart I had printed and mounted a week before the wedding. Nothing spectacular, but hey, it got the job done.
Cocktail hour lasted for around 45 minutes, and with perfect timing it started to rain! Thankfully, no one got too wet as it was more of a drizzle than a downpour. I hate that it rained on our guests, but it was perfect timing since it was time to head to our main reception tent for the night’s festivities to begin. All our guests hurried up the stairs (the same stairs that I entered from for our ceremony) and found their respective seats.
Up next: Our reception!
