No Sweat

I am not a particularly sweaty person by nature, but every now and then and often out of nowhere, I get a bad case of the sweats. I’m talking needing-to-blow-dry-your-underarms-with-a-hair-dryer sweats. It’s more likely to happen when I’m nervous or excited, but it can happen for no reason at all. I only get the crazy sweats a couple times a year, so normally it’s not a problem…but I really want to make sure that the wedding isn’t one of those times.

I recently bought this antiperspirant, which is supposed to keep your underarms dry for up to 72 hours!

You are supposed to apply it at bedtime, which I keep forgetting to do, so I have yet to try it out.

I’ve also heard of something called Sweat Block, which is a moistened pad you dab in your underarms that is supposed to block your sweat glands for an entire week! I don’t know how I feel about blocking my sweat glands long-term, but for special events (like a wedding!) it might be worth trying.

Does anyone else get the random sweats? How do you control it?

I’m so happy I found this post! My FH sweats through the underarms of all of his shirts and he had no idea what to do about the wedding day. We are definitely going to test out these products!

I love Certain-Dri! It seriously changed my life. I used to have to change t-shirts several times a day because of my sweat problem. Now, I don’t sweat very often at all and I haven’t used the product in years. It totally works.

Certain Dri definitely worked for me! The downside was that I kind of got dry, red areas around the outer area of my pits (I know that sounds gross, but I’m not really sure how to describe it, sorry)- maybe I was overzealous in my application and got it on skin that wasn’t really sweat-prone. I would probably suggest giving it a trial run and use sparingly, since red pits are almost as unappealing as sweaty ones!
I think the idea is that it ‘sinks in’ to your skin and blocks your sweat glands while you’re sleeping and your body temp is lower- hence why you can still shower in the a.m.

P.S. I love when Mr. Bowtie comments, he should do it more often! 😀

I used to “pitt out” every single day, even if I was freezing cold. It was worse if I was nervous. I have been using Certain Dri for a few years now and I never have a problem!! I do notice that if I don’t remember to put it on at night for multiple nights in a row it will itch/sting when I first put it on, but that goes away quickly. In the end that infrequent discomfort is worth the results!!

I’m glad to hear so many of you have had success with Certain Dri–I’m going to test it out this weekend!

I have a skin disease called Hyperhidrosis – it means “excessive sweat”. There’s lots you can do to help disguise or stop your sweating.

There are t-shirts that will soak up as much underarm sweat as you can muster – They’re sold all over the world and have an excellent reputation, I swear by mine.

There is also a similar thing for groin sweating and I am a co-founder of the largest Hyperhidrosis support group on the internet.

If you need specific help or personal advice I’m happy to help – male or female. Please send me a private message on and I’ll always reply.

Thank you so much for the tip!! I sometimes have some sweat problems, but I honestly never thought of taking a more aggressive approach about it. Will try these products out as well!

@Lexsy: You’re welcome Lexsi, we’re working tirelessly to raise awareness of Hyperhidrosis and to help people take control of it. It’s 11.30pm on Saturday night in the UK (where I am) so that will tell you just how tirelessly we work!

Please do contact me if you would like to have a walk-through of what your options are 🙂

I got married two years ago by the way, it’s stressy enough without worrying about damp hair, face, hands and sweat patches!
