A while back, Mr. D and I decided we wanted to have a cherry blossom theme for our wedding. Our wedding was going to be held in the Spring, a season often symbolic of new life and blessing. When I thought of the tone we wanted to set for our wedding, words that came to mind were happy, sincerity, love, joy, friendship, fun, fresh, free, innocence, and beauty in simplicity.
Mr. D and I thought that light Spring colors would help exude this tone. We’ve decided on a pale spring green and a pastel pink, and cherry blossoms (which we both love!) would fit perfectly. The only problem was that cherry blossoms are in season during March-April…and our wedding was in May. However, we weren’t going to let that stop us, and started to get creative. For those of you cherry blossom fans out there, I thought I’d share with you how we’ve done that so far…
We started with a personal touch. We found these beautiful toasting flutes from Macy’s, and purchased them right away for our use on our wedding day…the cherry blossom design has been etched into the crystal!
For decor, we’ll try to intermingle some glass cherry blossoms in with our real flowers…We bought these in a furniture store, but they are available for cheaper from White Aisle:
Our invitations will also have a cherry blossom theme to them – we are making these ourselves! Details forthcoming…We’ve already designed the invitations together, purchased most of our materials, and will begin assembling them during the holidays.
Other ways we are considering tying in the cherry blossom theme…
We love these candle votives (available from Ideal Favors) as potential decor or wedding favors. In our efforts to cut costs, however, we may find a way to make these ourselves. If we do, I will of course share all the details with you all!
We may incorporate these cute cherry blossom sprays into the guest escort cards…
Istockphoto also has a wide range of beautiful cherry blossom images. We will likely be using many of these on our wedding website! I absolutely love this image below…and it is pink and green, like our wedding colors!
There are also tons of wedding favors that incorporate cherry blossoms into them. We won’t be using these, but these may prove helpful to all you cherry blossom fanatics out there.
Wedding favor boxes from White Aisle:
Cherry blossom chopsticks from Stuart Creations:
Cherry blossom mint tins from Brides and Bells:
And cherry blossom tea! My mom bought some of these…The full blossoms are actually used to make a tea. Could be a great party favor!
Yay for cherry blossoms!
How about you? Are any of you trying to tie in an out-of-season flower into your wedding?
