I am not a shoe person. I hate wearing them, shopping for them, and most of all paying for them. To top it off, I don’t have the smallest feet ever, so finding cute shoes for my not so tiny feet is a pain in the ass. The thing is, I want to have an insane shoe collection. Every morning when I get dressed for work I think about how much easier completing my outfit would be if I had a shoe that was [insert something I don’t have here]. In fact, I’m extra jealous of the shoe closets that look like this:

That being said, I was determined to find wedding shoes I loved. I was even willing to put some money (read: less than $200..nothing crazy, but more than the $20 bargain shoes I usually find) into them.
I started my search in the local department stores; Nordstrom, Belk, Dillards, Macy’s…I even made my first trip to Neiman Marcus thinking maybe I’d find something (on sale). After a little bit of searching I realized what I don’t want–boring and/or any variation of white. I really wanted orange because 1.) it’s in our wedding colors and 2.) it’s different. The problem is everything orange is also gold, which isn’t my favorite, or has cork. I don’t mind cork wedges, but it just felt a little too informal.
|Badgley Mischka/ Not orange, but sparkle is still one of our “colors” 😉|
|Alexander McQueen/ Love these!|
Obviously I was all over the place. Typical. The problem with all of these (well, and the fact that the Alexander McQueen’s are oh, $356 on sale) is that they’re all four inches tall or more. I’m 5’6″ and Mr. Cruise is roughly 5’9,” meaning no 4.5″ heels for me! Do you know how hard it is to find cute shoes that aren’t flats or more than 4″ tall?!
Lucky for me, Zappos saved the day because two clicks later these popped up on the side bar where they suggest shoes you might like:
They were right.
Not only do I like them, they’re only three inches high and they were available in my size! Bonus: they were under $100 with shipping. Score! I placed the order and two days later they were sitting on my doorstep when I got home from work. Zappos is efficient, ya’ll! They aren’t the most comfortable shoes in the world. It’s a little bit hard around the heel and rubs right in the prime blister spot, but they fit otherwise so I wasn’t about to return them with less than three weeks until our wedding…yeah, talk about procrastination. My second fitting is in three days, so I needed these bad boys like, two weeks ago. I went to Target and bought some Dr. Scholl’s Rub Relief Strips and my problems were completely solved. Phew!
Did you take a chance on your shoes like I did? Did it work out? (I hope!)
