Oooh, A Productive Weekend!

As I am beginning this post, I am suddenly realizing that I haven’t posted my actual wedding dress, and instead I am posting my “fake” wedding dress first. Ooops. Oh well, later. 😉 Right now, on to my fake wedding dress.

What is my fake wedding dress, you might ask? Well, it’s the dress I’m planning to trash during a Trash the Dress photo shoot next weekend. Now, typically brides trash their REAL wedding dresses, and typically they do it AFTER their weddings. However, I was offered an awesome opportunity to have a FREE Trash the Dress photo shoot with an awesome pair of photographers, Lisa + James Photography, which I obviously did not want to turn down. However, I wasn’t about to trash my dress before the wedding (um, duh) and it’s not like it even fits right now anyway (needs to be altered). So I began a quest to find a cheap wedding dress that wasn’t totally heinous. This weekend a thrift store in San Jose had a big sale on dresses, priced $25-$75. A local bridal store went out of business, and they donated all the dresses–all the proceeds went to the Packard Children’s Hospital. Pretty sweet, huh?

I was totally shocked by the number of dresses they had. Unfortunately, because I need to use this dress in less than a week and I don’t want to spend the money to alter it, I was stuck looking through the dresses in my size, which were pretty limited. Most of them were of the giant, heavy, princess variety. Part of me felt like it would be really fun to do something totally different than my real dress–but on the other hand, those princess dresses really don’t fit my personality at ALL. In addition, the thought of traipsing around who-knows-where in a 60 pound dress didn’t really appeal to me. Especially if I’m going to be getting in water.

One of the dresses I tried on was HUGE and took up the entire dressing room. Sadly, I don’t have a picture of me in it. But here’s a picture of me trying to lift it:

And if that wasn’t dramatic enough, here’s another one:

After I found a dress for $25 (you’ll see pictures of it in a few weeks!!), my friend Kathy and I went on another mini egg outing. I bought out another Rite Aid’s supply and am proud to say that I officially have all the mini eggs I need!

Here’s Kathy, about to raid the 1 pound bags. She has the same crazed look that I had earlier this week! Mini eggs will do that to a girl.

See how long my receipt is? ALL MINI EGGS, BABY. 32 bags of them!

I now have over sixty pounds of mini eggs in my possession. The goal was 60 exactly, but I figured it would be a good idea to have a few extra, just in case! After all, it’s not like I’ll have the opportunity to buy extra if I need them come wedding time.

After I got home from this shopping extravaganza, I put my mini eggs in a cool corner of our pantry and closed the door on them. See you in a few months, my darlings!

Then I started working on my table markers, which are a whole lot of work. I’ll cover those next time.

All in all, I’d say it was a pretty productive weekend. High five!

It probably a good thing that you have more mini eggs than the actual amount you need- this way you can weed out the cracked/shell missing ones that show up in every bag. And eat them, of course!

Did anyone notice if the Thrift Shop had any larger sizes (IE: 18 or 20?) I’d love to go look, but can’t justify the gas for the two hour trip on a whim!

    Thanks all!

I’m pretty sure I remember size 16. I can’t remember 18 or 20. It would probably be best to call the Thrift Box in San Jose on Lincoln ahead. I’m also not sure how long they’ll have wedding dresses.

I didn’t even think to post about it on here, sorry guys! Although, I only found out about it the day before. It was on Craigslist.
