Photographic Proof: Yup, We’re Still Engaged!

Our wedding photographer, Amy Deputy, is awesome.

Remember how in my last post, I was complaining about the snow? Well, it wasn’t all bad! See, after the first major blizzard, Mr. Guinea Pig and I trekked out to Amy’s studio for a meeting and she did a mini-shoot with us in the snow in her backyard! In about 30 minutes of roaming around outside, she managed to capture 100 great photos of Mr. Guinea Pig and me, which is no easy feat! So now we have more engagement photos, in addition to our first set of e-pics, and they are fantastic. In fact, it’s a really weird notion to me that I actually like so many photos of myself – has anybody else had this experience? Anyway…

This was the first time Mr. Guinea Pig had met Amy (he was living in CA when I had to book a photographer), so we wanted to get a feel for her shooting style and get over some of our camera shyness! Amy was great at getting us to relax and act more like ourselves than the frozen (ha) smiles we started with, and we had so much fun rambling around in the snow!

To begin with, the pre-covered-in-snow portion of the photos…

(Poor Mr. GP’s light blue eyes couldn’t handle the sun reflecting off the snow!)

(lots of laughing at ourselves was involved in the relaxing)

(smart Miss Guinea Pig was wearing snow boots. Poor Mr. GP’s feet nearly froze)

(awww, we loves each other)

Of course, gotta get some fun in!

(yes I almost tipped him over, what’s your point?)

I had to apologize for nearly toppling him into the snow by acting all sweet:

(My white-gloved fingers look so funny poking out of his black-gloved hand!)

(It looks like Mr. GP’s whispering a secret into my ear! The secret was probably: I’m freezing, are we done?)

But if you know us at all, you are well aware that this sweetness couldn’t possibly last very long. Funny story (not): we traipsed into a nearby field where I fake threw a snowball at Mr. GP (okay I actually threw it for real but it was nowhere near so I pretended I hadn’t meant to hit him) when suddenly Mr. GP yelled “Oh my god, a bear!” Amy and I swiveled around practically ready to run when a snowball hit me square in the back of the head and I heard a huge laugh and a smug, “Oldest trick in the book.”

(attempting to run from another snowball to the face attempt)

At this point we gave in to being completely covered in snow, and plopped ourselves down to make:

(SNOW ANGELS! This was fun. And cold)

(Awwww… it looks like our hands are frozen together! They probably were.)

(nuzzling noses to keep warm)

(apparently getting up out of the snow was too much to ask of me)

(and I tried to convince Mr. GP he could just lift me up)

(eventually I managed to scramble up rather ungracefully)

(a nod to Mr. GP’s playful job!)

Eventually we went inside, had a cup of tea, thawed out and talked timelines. 🙂 But those 30 minutes made all the blizzardy snow totally worth it, and Mr. Guinea Pig left the meeting just as enamored of our wedding photographer as I am!

I love that now we have photos in two completely different environments (warm fall CA, and snowy MD!), and these just make me that much more excited for our wedding photos! A HUGE thank you to Amy for wading through knee high snow and taking such great photos of two awkward, camera-shy Guinea Pigs. 🙂

On a side note: a special shout out to Miss Rainbow for her makeup series Ace Your Face Part 1 and Part 2 – who knew my face could look so smooth! I love her foundation and contouring tricks! 🙂
