Why? Because my centerpieces involve carnations. That’s right, I said carnations. See?
Major ew to the silver urn-like vessel (IMO – remember, I’m a Modernist and minimalist practically since birth. Ask my mom, even). He just used something of the final product’s approximate diameter and height as I didn’t get the ones I’m providing to him before the trial.
MUCH better. I stuck the whole thing in the vessel I will be providing (which is why the flowers aren’t sitting quite as low as they will be). It’s from Ikea. And you already thought I was cheap for having carnation-only centerpieces. I may encircle the white with some ribbon. Or I may stay true to my minimalist roots and leave it stark white to contrast against the red.
What a difference a vase makes, right?
And now, onto the bridesmaid bouquets.
Some kind of roses (I hate roses, but they do add nice texture and deeper color to give the bouquet more depth), red dahlias, hypericum berries, and the tiniest hint of green that starts with a “pitts.” The dahlias won’t be *quite* as day-glo red as my camera burned the color out a bit, for some reason, and these were white ones dyed red. The red dahlias aren’t yet in season but should be in August. They’ll be hand tied and wrapped in some of the 150 yards of aqua ribbon I purchased over the weekend [post on that craziness coming soon to a blog near you!]
