I stumbled upon this a while back, and absolutely LOVED this idea. In Quaker marriages, the vows are written out on a beautiful manuscript, which is signed by all the guests attending the wedding. By signing the paper, the guests are pledging to support the couple in their relationship. In the words of this certificate, “As members of a loving community, we set our hands in caring witness to this union.”
Now, this would not be practical at a large wedding. But at our 100-person fete, I think it’s totally doable, and an amazing option in place of a guestbook. How romantic to have a beautiful reminder of your vows and every person who witnessed your wedding hanging in your home.
