The Rainbow Connection: Early Morning Set-ups

After not sleeping the night before the wedding, we had an early morning start the next day. Since we only had the reception hall the day of the wedding, we needed to get in and get everything set up bright and early so we still had time to get hair and make-up, first look and pictures done before the 2:30 pm ceremony. We were scheduled to meet the ranger opening the hall at six, so we were up showering, loading the car and driving over there bright and early. The hardest part of this super early morning was dealing with little miss Cherry Bomb. She’s not really a morning person, so there was a LOT of whining and crying involved with the early morning wake-up.

And that picture was taken AFTER she had a nap that day. But really she did amazing most of the time. It was a pretty big shake-up from her usual routine and she took it in stride for the most part. But back to our early morning—we met the ranger and he opened everything up and explained where some things were and how to open and use different things. We started loading various items into the building and my bridesmaids, my family and Mr. Cannon’s family showed up to help transport things and set up.

I had sketched out an idea of how things should look ahead of time, so that was all set. We just had to set up the tables and chairs, put out the linens, set up the centerpieces and decorations, test the sound systems and all that fun stuff. You can see why I wanted to get such an early start. My mom and sister brought a breakfast casserole to feed everyone (except me, because I was still too nervous to eat). A majority of the set-up was done by the time I had to leave for my hair appointment, but it wasn’t completely decorated. Everyone assured me it would be fine and they would get it done as I left for the salon, but I was still nervous about my vision coming through (because I’m a crazy control freak).

This hair appointment was at 10 or 10:30 (I forget which now) and the cool fog of the morning was still hanging around. I was starting to wonder if it would last all day. Until closer to lunch time, the fog was thick and I was sure we would end up with Haunted House style pictures of the day. Even though it wasn’t really what I pictured for our wedding day, there was something comforting about the fog. I have many happy memories associated with cool, foggy mornings—lots of Easters and summer camping trips that started before sunrise in the fog that dissipated into a warm sunny happy day. And now that I can add our wedding day to that list of happy fog days, I’m starting to think that fog might be my lucky charm!

Did anyone else have to do the set-up for their own wedding? Was it as stressful for you?

Cherry Bomb is SO cute, even if she’s cranky! 😉

We’re doing set-up for our wedding. Luckily the tent will arrive Thursday, so as long as the weather holds we have two days to get it together.

We were going to help with our set up but the venue ended up taking on an even the night before our wedding so I had to trust that they would pull it off w/out me! It’s hard to trust when it is such an important day!

Little Miss Cherry Bomb is so adorable!

Oh man, Cannon you are such a trooper for getting up early and setting up like that! And Cherry Bomb is absolutely adorable – even if she is a little cranky! 😀
