Signing Marriage License

After a couple of chaotic weeks getting my grades in for the first semester and dealing with all the fall-out from this sad election cycle, I’m taking advantage of my LONG Thanksgiving teacher-break to come back and finish my recaps! If you’re just tuning in, we last left off at the reception with our first dance and dancing with our parents.
After the traditional first dances were over, Mr. Blue Moon and I made a speedy exit back to the bridal suite. This was a planned exit so that we could enjoy dinner privately and actually get to eat something substantial. I heard way too many horror stories of the couple never getting a bite of their wedding food due to overzealous guests and many wedding activities. Our wedding planner was kind enough to build in some time for us to eat away from the hustle and bustle of the main reception space, and I’m so glad.
Meanwhile, our guests sat down for their meal. We opted for a buffet that included tossed salad with green goddess dressing, herb roasted potatoes, green beans, and fresh rolls and butter. The meat option was grilled chicken in tomato basil sauce, and the vegan option was a vegetable stir-fry.

It all tasted great to Mr. Blue Moon and me, but I think we could have eaten anything at that point, we were so HUNGRY. We inhaled our food, shared a bottle of wine, and basically just reveled in the joy of being newly married. We kept telling each other, “I can’t believe we’re finally married!” I really recommend building in some alone time with your partner after the wedding ceremony. It was really lovely to have time to sit down and share our first meal together, and I really feel like the day would have gone by too fast if we hadn’t taken some time to step back and enjoy each other.
After giving us about 20 minutes to eat, our officiant, best man, and photographer returned to seal the deal with the signing of our marriage certificate. I know that this is something that doesn’t always get captured on film, but Blue Mom suggested that Amilia photograph these moments, and I’m really happy she did.
Steve, our officiant, told Mr. Blue Moon that there was no going back now and gave him a handshake, and with that, our marriage became legal in the eyes of the state of Tennessee.
