Two Is the Loneliest Number?

I am only having two bridesmaids: my sister and my best friend. I agonized over this decision for a bit, thinking that my “side” would look lonely and that it would look weird to have three times as many guys in the wedding party as girls. (I have three brothers, so our wedding party is overloaded with males.) Plus, think of how fun dress shopping would be for five or six girls!

The perfectly mismatched-but-coordinated dresses would look a bit odd with only two girls.

I have several other lady friends I could have picked to fill things out a bit. In the end, I decided that I didn’t want to pick people for the sole purpose of taking up space. I love my friends, and while I’m sure we will find other ways to include them at our wedding, I wanted to keep the wedding party small. Things are logistically difficult when your wedding party looks like this:

Plus, I don’t want our kids to look through our wedding album and wonder who the people standing at the altar with Mommy and Daddy are.

I know I’ll have a lot of fun with my two beautiful ladies on my wedding day and that I’ll have all the love from them that I could ever want. Plus, these ladies look pretty happy with their perfect pair of bridesmaids.

Did you have a small number of bridesmaids? Did you ever regret not asking more people to stand up with you?

We are actually having no bridal party at all…just the two of us. I have too many close friends to put any above anybody else, and my groom has hardly anybody at all. He works for a very small company and doesn’t really have any male “buddies”. We will have our sweetheart table for two at the reception and from what I understand, anyone that attends the wedding can be witnesses for the license. So there ya go…that’s how we are doing it 🙂

We’re having 4 each. He picked his closet friends and i picked mine. I decided not to have any of my family because they all live out of state and i wanted my bridal party to be close by so they can help out (a little selfish maybe?) It’s been pretty easy planning with them. I have a great group of friends and they want to help out as much as possible to alleviate as much stress from me as possible. Love those ladies!

I had 2 as well! My sister and his sister. This made the most sense for us because I have a couple close friends from college, one from high school, and a couple from law school. So, if I didn’t do just 2… we would have been at 7, and I didn’t want to deal with the drama of so many. 🙂

I have 6 bridesmaids, but just last night I was lamenting to Momma Coyote that I wish I only had 3… The logistics are it are so confusing/overwhelming!

I’m likely only having two also (though I keep tossing around the idea of asking a couple more). And I’m still doing the mismatched dresses. Is that crazy? I told my girls they could wear whatever they want, I just gave them my colors. And then told them if they REALLY wanted a dress that wasn’t in our colors they could wear it anyway. Am I asking for trouble on this?

@ Veggie-Rachel – This was my initial plan, but it didn’t work out so well. Stay tuned for more on that. My advice is to make sure you REALLY trust your girls’ sense of style.

I have 3 sisters and 3 besties!…that’s alot of bridesmaids for my taste, so, I opted to just go with my MOH and we’re having a “best woman”…dress shopping was easy!! They both love their dresses and my FH doesn’t have to worry about his tiny family all being up in front with us at the altar! (he has 2 brothers and 2 male cousins..thats all)

Made sense to us to have it more intimate, stress free and now our family can just relax and nobody’s feelings are getting hurt! 🙂
