We didn’t do a big hotel party or sleepover with our bridal party. In fact, we spent the night before our wedding together, in our house. But I did want to have some girl time with my ladies before the wedding. So, on the day before the wedding, the girls all gathered at my house and we bid Mr. Cannon and Cherry Bomb good-bye as we headed to the mall to get our nails done.
I hadn’t really decided what I wanted to do with my nails yet. (What can I say? I told you all I started half-assing our wedding planning at the end!) I had originally planned on doing pink nails and french toes, but at the last minute, staring at the polishes lining the walls at the salon, I decided to get purple toes instead. Why not add some more color to our already colorful wedding? I think it was a good choice.

My favorite part of the time we spent getting our nails done was when we were soaking our toes prior to our pedicures and Machine Gun pulled out some pictures from high school. I do not have copies of the photos unfortunately, but they were goofy high school pics. Our half bleached hair, wannabe punk rock days, our skater fashions with no actual skating abilities, all still living in pictures from the days we were sure we knew it all. It was fun to relive the memories, and embarrassing to show them to the girls who didn’t go to high school with us.
After we were all prettied up, we split up to get ready for the rehearsal that evening. I started rushing around the mall because I had a last minute purchase to make: I still hadn’t found an outfit for our ring bearer! I had been looking for a pink tie for him to wear with a black shirt for a few weeks, but had no luck finding a hot pink tie in a boy’s size. Since it was the day before the wedding, it was time to suck it up and realize it wasn’t going to happen. So, I went on a search for something else for him to wear. I really wasn’t finding anything bright and colorful for a young boy—the best I could do was a purple polo shirt. I wasn’t thrilled with it, but it photographed fine and was probably more comfortable for my nephew to wear than most other things would be, so it all worked out in the end.
Did you leave any important purchases up to the last minute? Did you have to compromise your vision?
