With what felt like a hundred dresses behind me, I found “The One”! It was a normal day. I was busy checking every wedding blog under the sun, tee hee, and I came across an absolutely adorable wedding on Style Me Pretty. What really struck me was the bride’s dress! Like a good stalker, err, detective, I found a link to the bride’s profile through the comments section. I was able to get an email and crossed my fingers for a response. Sadly she said she didn’t know the make of the dress! I thought she was blowing me off, and I was really bummed.
Then, a second email arrived! She had scoured the internet trying to find dresses like hers to help me out! How sweet is that? Here is what we found, and what I will be donning the day of our wedding:
Mr. Sunbeam, don’t you dare go any further!! Not even a peek, mister!!!
I had found the dress on the designer’s site, but finding it in a store was impossible! It’s called Monica, by La Sposa. Since this all happened around November, I called every state I’d be near from November to New Year’s Eve, which meant CA, PA, DC, NJ, and MD! Nobody had it.
On my last call to a tiny shop in MD, M’Jourdelle, the seller said she had a ‘sister’ dress that was cut to the same form but was different style. I mentioned that I’d heard from other stores that the dress was the same fit, even though it was an ’08 dress. She called the designer to confirm that placing the order over Christmas would be fine, and to confirm that the ‘sister’ dress would be the same fit.

Everything checked out. I couldn’t take any pictures, but I wasn’t trying on the Monica, anyway! The fit was perfect, so I took a leap and ordered the dress, which she was willing to sell me for $500 less than any other shop I called. I couldn’t be happier. In fact, I wish I could be wearing it right now!
It has two sheer layers of lacy goodness that gives it a vintage feel, a v-neck, a short train, a bit of a mermaid cut – just a enough for a bit of sexiness! Best of all, it’s 100% within my actual budget, and my mom loves it! Please excuse the chicken wings! I’m convinced the top was size double D upon arrival. Here is a closer look at the bottom of the dress. I had to set the timer, then scramble onto a chair for this shot!
Would you take a leap and buy a dress that you technically never tried on?
