”¦and properly pinning on a boutonniere is one of them!
Let’s face it. It’s darn near impossible to pin a boutonniere (or corsage) on yourself, all by yourself. Trying to get it straight and keeping it from flopping over are some of the challenges, so be prepared to help out the guys in your wedding party by learning how to master the pinning technique.
At some of the weddings I’ve attended, I fell into the role of official boutonniere and corsage pinner. (Is “pinner” even a word?) It’s not rocket science, but it does take a good, sturdy pin, which your florist should provide, and a good eye for keeping things straight.
I think the key is to NOT pin through the stem. This will create a pivot point and cause the flower to flop over.

It’s such a simple skill, but it has a lifetime of value as you or members of your family take part in weddings, Mother’s Days, proms, and other special occasions down the road.
