Just Shoot Me, Part One: The Shutterbug Search

We knew from the beginning we wanted photography, and we were willing to splurge a bit on that. These were the picture that we would keep with us for the rest of our life. So, we sat down and thought about what we wanted from our photographer.

  • At least 10 hours of coverage
  • Engagement shoot included
  • Physical prints nice, but not required
  • Natural looking portraits

It wasn’t a huge requirement list, but it was a start. So, we started to look at photographers.

The first person who came to my mind was Barry Cardoso.

I worked with Barry back in 2011 on a head shot photo session. During the photo session, he quickly impressed me with his professionalism and willingness to answer any question. After the session, he impressed me further with his speed at getting the photos edited and back to us.

The problem was that I hadn’t seen his pricing since 2011, and when I went back to his website, I didn’t see any pricing at all. Although I was willing to splurge a bit, I felt they may be too much for our current budget. So, I thought it would be best to look around first.

The second company I found was Frame of Mind. They had some good work on their website, and they actually did videography too. One thing that jumped out at me is that I stumbled on an album of a contestant I remembered seeing on Four Weddings Canada.

I remember watching this wedding, but the photos made it look so much more memorable.

Our third option was Studio Arash.

This was the recommended photographer and videographer for our venue. On top of doing nice work and having bundled packages, they also offered a discount because of our venue. They were the front-runner for our photography and videography.

Then one night, I got a call that became a game changer.

I can’t wait to hear part two! Also, I love photographs that are pure emotion, so I’m loving the happiness in that first Barry Cardoso shot. (And yours, of course – gorgeous!)

The suspense! Photography is so subjective, it’s always interesting to see what everyone’s preferences are for style, etc.

Anyways, good luck and have an amazing wedding 🙂
