Puppy Love: We Exit

You may recall that way back when we had planned a sparkler exit. Our venue offered a choice between sparklers, bubbles, and flower petals, and Mr. D and I were on the same page with our order of preference (the order in which I wrote them). Well, you may also recall me mentioning that our wedding day was filled with scattered storms. Rain + sparklers = not so much. BUT the coordinators at our venue were excellent about ensuring that we had everything we wanted—as proven by the fact that we squeezed in our outdoor ceremony in between the rain clouds. Enter the half-bubbles, half-sparkler exit.

Because our reception was on the covered but wall-less patio, the guests were able to line up cohesively half under the ceiling and half outside. So they were given the option of staying dry and blowing bubbles, or being truly hardcore and getting a little damp (luckily the rainfall was light at this point) while waving a sparkler.

As we walked through our cheering guests and headed to the car that would take us back to the hotel I was once again overwhelmed with emotion. It was a little bittersweet knowing that the wedding was over, the one day I had poured my heat, time, and sweat into for the last 13 months (okay, let’s be honest, the last 24 years) had come and gone. But with that twinge of sadness also came excitement for the future, gratitude that we were able to celebrate our love with family and friends in a day filled with so much joy, and most of all, an all-consuming happiness that the man whose hand I was holding was now my husband.

I am not sold 100% on having a grand exit, but seeing as I have an almost childlike aversion to sparklers, I can definitly say they will not be an option! But your exit was beutiful, I loved the bubbles!

Such beautiful pics!! We did a sparkler exit, and I was a little freaked out that we would catch on fire, but we somehow made it safely to the car 🙂

I don’t think we’ll do an exit though this made me want to do one! I’m pretty sure I’ll be lame and stay after to make sure everything is cleaned up, we have to be completely out of the venue by 10p the night of the wedding, no one wants to help take the decorations down and pack the car (my fi’s parents said it’s not fair for them to not enjoy the day) but my mom (and the caterer) so I’ll probably stay to make sure my mom doesn’t need help.

I wished we could do a grand exit, but it didn’t really make sense since we were staying at the conservatory to take bridal portraits while guests left. Your pictures are so lovely though! 🙂

You kind of got the best of both worlds! Lucky you. Both ways are gorgeous as a send-off.

sparkler exits are so fun and pretty! if i was willing to leave my reception early, i would definitely have one. but, i want to soak up every last minute so i am just unsure of the point for us.
