Terrific Trial

Last weekend, on an overcast Sunday morning, I made my way out to Bellevue in order to go to the salon for my hair and make-up trial. While the stylists will come to me on the wedding day, they have an actual blow-out bar where they do their trials.

I realized the night before my trial that, while I had thought about what I wanted to do with my hair, I had not given that same amount of due to my make-up. (Priorities, I guess”¦)

So, as a reminder, here’s my hair inspiration:

Luckily, I had idly pinned some make-up inspiration to my Pinterest boards, so it was a matter of looking at what I’d found and seeing if I still liked it. Even more lucky—I still liked them!

So how did my trial turn out? (Spoiler alert: the title gives it away!)

My take on the hair was to have some pieces hanging down. I don’t like when my hair is pulled straight back without being visible in the front, so the dangling curls were my way to combat it.

I was really excited to be able to see how my veil looked with the hair. Before my appointment even started, my stylist told me how much she liked my veil and I was able to proudly tell her that I made it.

This trial was also an opportunity to see how my reception hair piece looked and I’m happy to report that it worked just as well as the veil.

I was so distracted by how much I loved my hair that I initially forgot to look at my make-up (pesky priorities, again). Once I took a look, my only comment was that I wanted the eye color a little darker, but overall I was thrilled with the look.

I told my stylist that I wanted soft make-up, with pink lips and nothing too showy. I don’t wear make-up often and I didn’t want to look like someone other than myself. The lighting in the room wasn’t the greatest to show off the make-up, but in person, after she darkened the color a bit, it was perfect. Very me, but still bridal. We decided to go the bronze route for eye shadow (versus the white). I’m picking up the lip liner/lip color between now and the wedding so I can do touch-ups but I think my look will stand up to the wedding day.

I am very pleased with how my hair and make-up look. We will put a few tweaks in place on the wedding day but I am mostly keeping it the same. Salon Maison does excellent work and I feel confident in their skills for my day.

How did your trial go?

It all looks great, but I especially love your reception hairpiece! Did you make that also?

@TexasAggieMom: I didn’t, though I definitely thought about it. I bought it from an Etsy shop called Yves Bella Brides.
