I know some brides out there are looking for these and a lovely reader has extras! Please leave a comment for her if you’re interested!

I recently had a wedding during the last week of August in California and have some extra guest favors I’m looking to sell. They are magnets of a bride & groom wearing the traditional Korean ‘hanboks’. One set is wearing the regular ‘hanboks’ and the other set is wearing ‘hanboks’ that were worn by royalty. The magnets are made of rubber, so they are quite sturdy. I put them in these super cute traditional Korean bags. Everything is handmade. They were a HUGE hit at the wedding - NO ONE left their favors or ‘forgot’ them…everything was gone (they even took the favors of those guests that didn’t show up!)
I have 71 of the purple bags which includes the royalty’s magnets, and 76 of the pink bags which includes the regular hanbok magnets. I’m looking to sell all for $450 shipped. Everything all tied up and ready to go…so there’s no work to do….and one less thing you have to worry about…=)
Thanks so much!!!!

I decided to forgo traditional favors and have a photobooth instead. I went with NYC Photobooth and found them very easy to work with. The owners scoped out Battery Gardens before the wedding to be sure that the logistics were set, and on the day of the wedding they set up the photobooth early so that they would be out of my hair.
The photobooth wasn’t cheap — around $1600 for 5 hours — certainly more than I would have spent on favors. Was it worth it? Yes and no. Some of my guests loved it and the photobooth was very popular during the cocktail hour. But once guests moved upstairs for dinner, only the diehards went back down to take more pictures. I think the photobooth would have gotten much more use if all of the wedding events were on the same floor. I did wind up with a great photo guest book, but I probably could have gotten a somewhat similar result with a polaroid camera. A

Marcus Aurelius is my head usher. I wanted him to be in the bridal party, but fears of my putting him in a seersucker dress prevailed, and he’s now head usher.
I searched high and low for an appropriate gift for him, but kept coming up empty. He’s not really a monogrammed money clip/key ring/silver frame kind of person; so standard groomsmen’s gifts were out. So was getting him something from Bonbon Oiseau, which is usually the answer to all my gift giving needs.
Then it came to me. Personalized stationery, in a banker typeface. From Crane, of course.
It took about 14 working days to arrive, but I think it may just be perfect.

($160 for 50 cards and envelopes — if you get exactly the same thing I did.)

My next task is to figure out what kind of favor to give out at our engagement party. I don’t think I want to go too overboard, since it’s a small affair. Right now my Mom and are I leaning towards this:

$3.15/set at Exclusively Weddings. I’m ordering 30 which comes out to $94.50.
I was also thinking I could go with Custom Printed M&Ms in my colors, lavender and cream. This is so exciting to me because we have the worst sweet-teeth known to man, so I think it’s only appropriate to incorporate candy into our festivities.
My good friend Jenny just pointed out that I should put “GINA & DAVID” on one color and our wedding date on the other. I think that’s a better idea. That way it’s kind of like a save-the-date and mini-favor all rolled into one. She rocks my world!
Bride08 was looking for these bubbles that came in vile tubing. I’ve seen wedding bubble favors, but some of the packaging can look a little tacky. I thought these would be really cute if you wrapped the tubing in pretty paper to match your color scheme and make it look more attractive.

Mr. Bee and I were in Union Square today, and happened to walk by the new Max Brenner’s Chocolate By The Bald Man store/restaurant. It’s a veritable Willy Wonka factory come to life - chocolate waffles, chocolate pizza, chocolate fondue, chocolate pastries, smores, hot chocolate, and of course good old regular chocolate.

I purchased four of the chocolates - they looked remarkably similar to Jacque Torres’ chocolates.

I really liked them and thought they tasted very similar to Jacque’s chocolates. Of course I’m no connoisseur, as I don’t really like chocolate (the horror!
). But they had several different options that’d work as nice wedding favors, and it seemed like a fun place to have a date or get together with your girlfriends.
Have you been to Max Brenner’s Chocolate by the Bald Man yet? What did you think?

My bridesmaids gifts are all finished, but I’m debating when to give it to them. One of the gifts I bought I actually want them to wear on the wedding day, but I don’t exactly want to tell them what it is quite yet!!! So, my question is… is it bad to give the gift super early? (Will they forget?) Or should I just wait till the rehearsal dinner when they are all here?
Groomsmen gifts on the other hand are still in the findings. All six of our groomsmen are so different that we can’t get them the same things like the maids.
And then the parents~ *sigh* What to get them… I don’t know honestly. I think that if my mom decides to buy a hanbok (korean dress) then maybe I’ll buy it as her gift. My dad on the other hand, what to get the guy that already has everything?
And for Mr. Poppy’s parents, what to get them… I’m just glad I have a lot of time!
What are you ladies planning/already got/getting your: parents, maids and groomsmen? And are you getting a present for your husband?
I love Iomoi’s bold, modern graphic designs! They carry a great selection of custom invitations, stationery, address labels, paperweights, coasters and matches - it’s a one stop shop for wedding stationery and gifts.

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Candy may not be the most unique favor to give, but who can resist them - I can’t be the only one. I plan on including chocolate in my favors and I haven’t figured out which brand yet, but I know that quality chocolate is a must.
I received a box from Lake Champlain last Christmas.

Ghirardelli signature Squares made in San Francisco are always a good choice. Great variety too.

Scharffenberger isn’t just for baking. Look at these cute individual pieces.

My fiance LOVES Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. That might work. Do you know of any brand that has individually wrapped pieces like these?
Footprints to Eternity posted these great pictures on how to make your own favor boxes!

We used gold wrapping paper (75cm x 4m from Borders for $8.95 which makes 65 complete boxes of 2 x 15cm x 15cm).
They’re easy to make, economical, and they look awesome. Thanks for sharing! ![]()
So, these days, I’m slightly obsessed with Black Phoenix Alechemy Lab. It’s a weird little spot that mixes up the most profoundly odd perfumes.

The site divides them by . . . theme? maybe? You can purchase Asphodel from Rappacini’s Garden, lovingly described as “The grey and ghostly flower that fills the fields of Hades.” Or you can get 5ml of any one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Or maybe a Love Potion, perhaps Bordello — “A decadent, deep perfume, lusty and luxuriant. The scent evokes images of velvet-lined Old West cathouses, tightly laced corsets, rustling petticoats and coquettish snarls of pleasure. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.”
What exactly do bawdy plums smell like? I really want to know.
These french lavender buds are on sale.
When I first thought about our favors, I wanted to make these exact sachets to give out. They reminded me of France, where we were engaged, and I thought it would be nice to tie it in to our wedding somehow.
This is one of my favorite perfumes from one of my favorite stores. If I return to France, I must visit Provence in July, the time of the annual harvest. Imagine the fields of lavender…. Did you know that you can even mix lavender into homemade ice tea?

Anyway I eventually decided not to make the lavender sachets, because I realized that male guests may not appreciate nor know what to do with them. Plus the allergy factor played a role too. However, I think these sachets would make great favors for a bridal shower. Hmm… maybe I’ll suggest that to my bridesmaids. (I really have to learn to stop putting my fingers in things that I’ve delegated… hehe.)
How cute is this mini suitcase filled with cookies?

It’s $18.00 and has 1/2 dozen cookies inside, with larger sizes available. They’re pricey for favors, but they’d make a nice treat inside your out of town welcome bags. (via outblush)
If you want to do cookie favors, you may want to check out these vintage mini cookie jars from shoploveme that my friend Gellibelly turned me onto.

$8.00 each and oh so cute.
erikabuentello made 50 of these pretty diy cookie containers for her brother’s wedding. They were filled with 2 heart shaped cookies and a party cracker (shown below).

The party crackers (shown unfilled here) were eventually filled with jordan almonds, a message, and some mints.

She even baked a three layer chocolate raspberry cream cake with vanilla buttercream. Impressive!
