The first time I ever saw wax seals was on Mrs. Bee’s personal blog back in 2004.
I absolutely fell in love with the idea, and the personal touch it gives invitations. I’m still undecided on whether I want to try it. Has anyone else tried to do them before?

Mrs. Bee, would you suggest another B2B investing the time and money on doing it?
After making about half of the menus for the engagement party, I decided to print out the STD bookmarks that I’ve been playing around with. I made three of them, with a different font for each. I was debating on sending out all three styles so everyone gets a different bookmark, but mom and I really like the first one. It looks more formal than the others.

I purchased cardstock from A.C. Moore for $0.20/page. The little flowers at the top and bottom of the bookmark are a dingbat font called “Vintage”.
Opinions/suggestions welcome!

Our engagement party is a week away! We’re having a buffet dinner and some delicious treats for dessert, so I decided to make menus to put on all of the tables listing what’s available for dinner.
Here’s a rough draft:

We’re so happy we numbered our little RSVP cards! We’ve received several cards from our guests with a check mark indicating whether or not they would be attending, but they did not identify themselves! Since we numbered them, all I had to do was flip the card over and see what number corresponded with our numbered guest list. Ta-da! Guest found.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Last night I attended the wedding reception of my good friends Joanne and Bobby, and this morning I woke up inspired and ready to get back into wedding planning/posting mode. I’ve been in a rather “blah” mood since booking the hall, photographer, and DJ because I’ve had nothing pressing to do.
Last night was just so much fun. It was wonderful to see my friends so happy and it was great to experience that with Mr. Sunflower, as well. Plus, yesterday I received pictures of the bouquet that I absolutely fell in love with at the Jericho Terrace Bridal Showcase, as well as the sample invitations I ordered from White Aisle.
First things first: the bouquet. This is exactly, exactly, exactly what I want, only lavender roses will be replacing the pink roses shown here. This beautiful creation was courtesy of Flowers By Brian. I told the representative several times that she needed to take it away from me before I left the hall with it.
Ed note: You may remember Jasmine (the author of this blog) from her honeymoon cruise posts and her RSVP Scrapbook cards that we’ve featured in the past.

After I got engaged, my friend Emily and I looked at invitations I liked and bounced ideas around. We weighed different options but in the end Paul and I trusted Emily, so we pretty much gave her free reign. We knew she would amaze us as she is so creative, and we knew she would put her heart into making us happy.
When I finally received the proof, I was floored. Emily had fulfilled my wishes and more. She blended everything I wanted and added some neat touches of her own to truly make our invitations personal, memorable, and unbelievably gorgeous! Everyone raved about how unique and personal they were, and how they had never seen an invitation quite like it. My boss’s wife said she was planning on saving it as a template to use for her own daughter’s wedding… her daughter just started kindergarten this September! Needless to say my invites were a huge hit and it was all due to Emily’s vision, creativity, hard work, and love.

Hi!
I was hoping you could help me out. I’m looking to make some magnets for save the dates that are going to be included in our invites rather than sent in advance. I’ve already designed it, but now need to find somewhere relatively inexpensive to have them made. I checked iprint and vistaprint, but neither seem to have circular custom magnets for as cheap as the ‘business card’ ones they offer.
Do you know of any places I can look?
Thanks!!
Joyce

That was the name of the email below that was forwarded from FMIL. She said she couldn’t resist passing it along to us and said it seemed to sum up everyone’s thoughts. The email was sent to her from a family member who had received our wedding invitation.
Ok, let me just take a moment……I have been invited to many weddings…..dare I say hundreds…..and a lot of those have been pretty elaborate events…….but let me say that I have NEVER received a 7 page, hand calligraphied, EN-FUCKING-GRAVED invitation as perfect as this one…..and may I also say, I pray to the Gods that be, that you are not having to pay for any part of them. Depending on how many they are inviting….that could be some peoples entire wedding budget. Oh my God….the gay, Martha Stewart loving, romantic, “God is in the details”….part of me was totally impressed and in awe of how beautiful it was.
I hope I love her as much as I love her taste level….she knows how to do this stuff…..WOW!
Ok, I’ll stop now…..I just had to share what a treat it was to open an invitation from someone who respects the way it was done…once upon a time!
Ok- so ours was letterpressed, but whatever, it totally made my morning the day I opened up that email. It’s comments like these that make me even happier we went the invitation route we did and that people do care about invitions and not everyone just throws them out! It’s so worth it!! ![]()
As promised, here is what we put on the back of the menus! Sorry about blurring out the baby faces - that is something we are only sharing with the people at the wedding. It’s embarrasing enough as it is. ![]()
Also, on the bottom, where it says “Just Married,” I am going to punch tiny holes and tie a miniature wedding bell through it with a ribbon. What do you think?

In my recent frenzy of card-stamping for our Save the Dates, I also decided to make some cards officially asking my Maid of Honor and Honorary Bridesmaids to take part in the wedding!
First, I got some lovely Strathmore Deckle Edge Creative Cards (from Pearl Paint) with a blue deckle edge (& matching envelopes!), then I stamped a blue flower corner and a little drawing of a bride in Memories Colonial blue and sepia inks, respectively (all four from addictedtorubberstamps). Then, for lack of a pretty pen or marker, and because I was annoyed I’d put it off so long already…I scrounged around and found a nice brown Prismacolor colored pencil that matched well enough and just hand wrote on the cards. I had already had long talks with each of my girls about how they were going to be “something bridesmaid-like” so I figured this was fancy enough.
One of the honorary bridesmaid cards:

We just mailed our save-the-dates!!! WAHOO!!!!
We live next to the post office, so just a minute ago we trotted over with our basket full of neatly-stacked, addressed envelopes and dropped them off. Here is Mr. Blueberry holding the basket:

We took them up to the counter rather than just dropping them in the slot because we wanted to make sure everything was in order. The nice lady double checked our postage and complimented me on the color of the envelopes — she even wanted to look at one of our extras to see the save-the-date inside! I love small towns :).
Everything was OK, so we took one final look at our precious babies and handed them over for mailing — hope our guests receive them soon! Most people will probably get them by Friday or Saturday. Here’s a picture of the STDs theselves:

One more big thing accomplished! Only 2,247 left to go.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that today is our 18-month anniversary of dating. That’s somewhat arbitrarily determined, though–just like our engagement anniversary.
::sigh:: At least we know for sure what our wedding anniversary will be, right? ![]()
Ok, I have taken on a huge endeavor.
I am set on making my programs, menus, and placecards by hand for my 250-odd guests. (Not to mention the rehearsal dinner and brunch invites and the out-of-town bags). Is this insane? Perhaps. But I’m owning my insanity and plowing ahead.
With a little inspiration from Martha Stewart, and absolutely zero rubber stamping (or crafting anything) experience, I went to Paper Presentation and bought more paper than a girl can carry (hence I brought with me my handy pack mule/beloved fiance) in the form of 250 of the following program covers (which fold into a matchbook-like shape), plus accoutrements (inserts):

As the wedding gets closer and closer, I find myself obsessing over little things that really do not matter. Example - I am now trying to find the “perfect” guest book for younger and older guests.
At first, I wanted one of these:

(image from Adesso Albums)
It retails for $59.95 for just the book. You have to buy your own Polaroid Camera and film. I absolutely love this idea, but there are a few downsides. First, it’s going to take some effort to make sure that most of your guests take their picture, sign on the appropriate page, etc. Second, it takes too long for everyone to do this. Finally, the album only comes with 30 pages. It is supposed to be enough to accomodate 75 guests, but they recommend that people take group pictures. Or, you can buy multiple books and put them into a slip case.
My invitations are in. I’m getting the final guest list down. Shame on me for not getting it done sooner because I need to have everything done by this week. My RSVP date is October 31st. Not really much time.
I was planning on making labels, adding on cute customized stamps and sending out every invitation, but it seems as though my parents and my fiance’s side will be hand delivering the invitations. Other than my friends that are not in close vicinity, should I be hand delivering my invitations as well?
What is your take on hand delivered invitations?
