Planning a wedding is hard enough without the added anxiety of whether or not the party favors you picked out are good enough, because, in all honesty, a lot of wedding favors aren’t very practical, or even all that great.
Since you already spent so much time, energy, and money planning your wedding, you might as well leave your guests with wedding favors that at least leaves them with good memories, or even excitement, rather than disappointment.
Here’s a list of ideas that you can easily customize to fit your wedding theme and personal taste.
1. Bottle Stopper
You can order anything these days, and wedding favors are just one of the items that are abundant online. If you know your group of family and friends enjoy a good drink now and then, why not give them a gorgeous, customized bottle stopper as a way to say thanks.
2. Bottle Opener
For when you don’t want to stop the booze from flowing, but would rather get it going, you can also offer your guests customized bottle openers as wedding favors, too! There are so many awesome bottle openers to choose from, from pretty keys to animal shapes, or even wine bottle openers that say “cheers” on them.
The nice thing about houseplants is that there are so many to choose from! From adorable succulents, to pretty flowers, and spiky spider plants, you’re bound to find something for everyone on your guest list. You can keep it simply and offer one kind of plant for all, or offer a variety for the variety of personalities at your wedding.
A great idea is to include instructions on how to care for each plant on the back of each thank you note that you should undoubtedly add to every individual planter. That way guests will know how to make their little love-bud thrive, and since plants can last a long time if taken care of, it’s a wedding favor that will continue to grow and remind everyone of the love you and your spouse share.
Who doesn’t love receiving free booze? Alcohol is one of those things that most people will enjoy getting, even after drinking all night. If you don’t feel like splurging on large quantities of hard liquor, keep it simple. There are a lot of great ideas for booze as wedding favors, including mini champagne bottles, mini bottles of rye with a can of coke, a single craft beer, or even bottles of homemade wine.
Of course, if you want to have an alcohol-free option for your guests you can always offer soda, apple cider, hot chocolate packs, or club soda. Not everyone drinks and will appreciate having a tasty beverage to take home, too.
Bonus! Why not attach a bottle opener or stopper to your boozy wedding favor for a gift that will keep on giving?
Candles make great wedding favors because they’re easy to hand-out and take home at the end of the night, they’re inexpensive (but seem luxurious), and their enjoyed by almost everyone I know. Plus, you can make them any scent, color, or shape you like to fit perfectly with your wedding theme.
Aside from booze, food is always a winning choice, because let’s face it, almost everyone likes food! Although I’m sure you’ll have your guests fed and stuffed before the end of the night, they’ll still most likely appreciate the thoughtfulness (and deliciousness) of having a treat to take home with them later on.
And just like most things on this list, the possibilities are endless! You can make cute candy packages, homemade jam, baked goods, hot sauce or meat rubs, s’mores packets, candy apples, herbs, or even fruit baskets. Whatever you choose, make sure if fits in with your wedding theme, and it’s something you feel at least the majority of your guests will enjoy.
7. Tote Bags
I don’t know about you, but I love a good tote bag! They’re so useful for everything from grocery shopping, trips to the library, or even a day at the beach. Which is why I feel like tote bags make great wedding favors – they’re actually something your guests will use time and time again!
You can order customized tote bags with basically any image or font on the front of them, and in any color, so get creative with it!
As a side note, though, I suggest maybe not putting the whole “Jane and John Doe 11/11/11 Forever blah blah” and instead go with a nice image that ties into your wedding but can still serve as a useful accessory all on it’s own.
A popular wedding favor choice is glasses: either wine glasses, pint glasses, shot glasses, or any kind of glass really. You can have something etched into it, or even printed on it, to make it more special.
In fact, a lot of people collect different kinds of glasses from their vacations, favorite bars, and more, so an added piece from a memorable occasion is often perfect.
9. Disposable Camera
This is a personal favorite of mine! I love the idea of handing out disposable cameras at weddings, but especially if it’s one you can take home with you.
For a lot of people, disposable cameras remind them of when they were young on family vacations and holidays, before smart phones or even digital cameras were around. The nostalgia of them make them a great gift that people will enjoy either at the wedding or at another time.
