About Me: I'm just your average obsessive compulsive, arts & crafts loving, funky-on-the-inside/boring-on-the-outside girl, who dares to say 'Hey! I can make that!' Nerdy professional by day, goofy won-ton by night. The won-ton sometimes comes out during the day when I'm fed the dollar breakfast at Ikea. Since our engagement, wedding planning has put me on high alert for bargains and I've been pushing my nimble fingers through callous building experiments!

I don?t know anyone else shares this sentiment, but one of the things I really looked forward to about being married was being able to pack that engagement ring away!
I have never been big on wearing jewelry, and had never dreamed about wedding rings of any kind. It was very weird to carry something so valuable on me all the time, and at the beginning it was honestly quite uncomfortable to have a thing sticking out at that odd (to me) spot on the finger! Mr. Green Tea offered that wearing it was not a requirement, but after leaving it at home for a couple weeks, I realized that it made him quite happy to see the ring worn. So I wore it most of the time, and got mostly used to it. 22 months later though, whenever the sticky-outty part hits or snags anything, it still freaks me out a little.

About Me: Planning a destination wedding by the sea should be (oh no she di-in't?) a breeze (?*sigh* yep, she did) but when you've never been to the Caribbean, your powers of imagination are really put to the test. Luckily, I'm 90% resourceful, creative optimist (and kooky, neurotic practicalist-if-that's-a-word for the other ten). Other than planning our week-long celebration of family, friends, laughter and love, I adore books, shoes and? you guessed it? long walks on the beach.
Previously in the Purple BM Dress Series:
Purple Dresses: The Quest Begins
The One Where the Bride Takes a Chill Pill
After months of scouring the city on foot, I had finally found Nirvana?a lovely purple bridesmaid dress for my girls?only to have it pooh-poohed.
It was at that point that I realized I had only one place left to turn.
Oh sure, I had dabbled in it before, sending Miss P, Pepperpot, and Lil? SIL a couple of links to random dresses I found by accident, but at that time I was just trying to get a feel for what they might have liked.
At the time, I wasn’t serious about it. While I?ve done plenty of online window shopping, I?ve never ever actually bought clothes online before.
I don?t know if you American gals know how good you?ve got it.

Venue: Small church ceremony with mountain-view log cabin reception
About Me: I'm a small town mountain girl with a city heart. Found my way to the east coast, and Mr. Champagne kept me here so we're planning a wedding from afar in my hometown Vail, Colorado. I'm secretly obsessed with reality TV, Wii games where I can shoot a gun, country music, and Caesar: Dog Whisperer. I also spend time pretending to golf, backseat driving, having one way conversations with our MinPin Maxwell, loving champagne, and wedding perfecting? I mean, planning. I use way too many repeated symbols and letters when I write, and I'll love Mr. Champagne endlessly?
One of the most popular and classic winter wedding themes is the icy blue, white and silver snowflake theme. Although this isn?t the route that we have decided to take, there are so many beautiful touches that can be added to a wedding using this color scheme, from the invitations to the favors. My favorite below are the mittens?adorable!

About Me: I'm an East Coaster living on the West Coast, planning a wedding in the South. I teach, study and write about pop culture, race, and sexuality for a living- now if only my dream job paid! After Mr. Sweet Tea, my other loves are scuba diving, traveling, being a semi-pretentious foodie, and fighting for social justice. I can't wait to have our best friends and family together in our favorite city to
celebrate with us!
Earlier this week, I gave you the run down on Filipino wedding parties, but I didn?t get to talk about the members of my own bridal party. It?s not that I forgot, but that I wanted to give them their very own post, of course!
Like a lot of you out there, none of my bridal party actually lives anywhere near me. I?ve only been here in southern California for two years, and have lived primarily in the NY metro area and the South in my short lifetime. With friends scattered all over the place, and wanting to keep the bridal party small, it was a bit of a challenge figuring out who to ask. I think you?ll agree though, that the buddies of mine that have stepped up to the challenge of dealing with me on my wedding day must be really patient, good friends!
First up is my best girl, R.
(With an Alessi funnel I got her for her b-day!)

About Me: I never thought about weddings until I got engaged. Now, I can't stop thinking about them! Planning the wedding has really opened the floodgates to my DIY side. If there's anything I can do to avoid hiring someone else, I will do it! Mr. Coconut is my financial advisor, he tries to keep me budget-conscious! We've tried to make wedding planning a team effort!
I blogged a while back about how much I love the bird trend. Birds will be on our cake, at our guest book table, and on most of our stationery, so it just seemed natural to have a birdcage veil! I?ll actually be sporting one mostly for my bridal portraits, and I’ll be wearing a cathedral veil for the ceremony. Yes, that?s right. I?m a two-veil bride. What? That?s totally normal!
I don?t have any pictures of me in the birdcage, but I will post pictures of it from Etsy and share with you where I bought everything!

About Me: Hi, I'm Miss Pomegranate and I'm a shopaholic. I have a weak spot for the chic cheap - especially anything I can re-create on the DIY. Shoes are my vice, music is my passion in life and technology is the medium by which I live and work. When I'm not scoping out a sale, I'm spending my quality time training for a marathon, playing Wii with my fiance and snuggling with my Silver Labrador and Teacup Panther - and oh yeah, planning my wedding!
Mamita Pom is often seen wearing fabulous jewelry designed and created by her good friend Lisa. She has earrings galore from Christmas and birthdays past?and they have always been meticulously made, oh-so-Bohemian, one-of-a-kind creations. So of course, when Lisa offered to help me make my wedding day jewelry, I eagerly nodded “yes!”
Before discussing my design ideas with Lisa, I wandered around the blogosphere searching aimlessly for inspiration. I wanted something different, but subtle. Something that would accent the simple lines of my dress and add a little sparkle to our wedding day. When I stumbled on to this collection of celebrities wearing long necklaces, I fell head over heels. I mean, check out this gorgeousness?how can you not swoon?!

Isn?t the fringed diamond necklace that Nicole Kidman is wearing here just delicious?

About Me:
I am a professional student by day and an amateur cupcake taster, bargain shopper, and wedding planner by night. I am obsessed with NPR, the Food Network, paper, dance shows, Anthropologie, post-structuralist theory, Weddingbee!, "The Office," and celebrity gossip. When not procrastinating from my dissertation, I spend time catering to Jellyby, our overly anxious shih tzu, and getting to know Mr. Hot Cocoa. We have only been dating for fifteen years, so it's like I'm in love with a stranger! From the East Coast, we are planning a Jewish-Chinese Extravaganza in L.A., where we both grew up.
There?s an interesting post on the U.S. News and World Report Alpha Consumer Blog about the escalating costs of being a wedding guest and?especially?a bridesmaid. Here?s the money quote:
But the heftiest burden of all falls on bridesmaids. They play a role that, for all the honor of its implied intimacy to the bride, comes with a price to match. Bridesmaids are often expected to buy a dress, matching shoes, and jewelry, not to mention professionally applied makeup and nail polish on the day itself. And well in advance of the “I do?s,” they usually serve as host for a bridal shower, bachelorette party, or both. TheKnot.com estimates that, excluding travel, the average cost for each bridesmaid adds up to around $700.
Oy gevalt. I kind of hurt for my bridal party just reading this. I wanted to recognize their friendship and support for me through the years by asking them to play a special role in my wedding, but I by no means wanted to bankrupt them in the process!
I’m doing my best to help defray the costs for my bridesmaids.

Venue: The Venetian
About Me: Things that make me happy: Haribo Happy Cola gummies, TV shows on DVD, buying books although I never read them, 80?s rock ballads, ramen, and of course Mr. Martini! He is the calm, logical and number crunching finance guy. I can?t even multiply double digit numbers in my head and I am so indecisive that trying to choose between light green or slightly lighter green paper stresses me out (Wedding planning is going to be soooo much fun). We both find great joy in nabbing great seats at the movie theater for a blockbuster movie on opening weekend, and we are both absolutely crazy about snowboarding. And he loves to cook, I love to eat!
The “one thing” is somewhat of an inside joke between Mr. Martini and I.
Before we booked the band for our wedding, I kept telling him that a band was the “one thing” I wanted. He believed me, until I started to use that phrase for just about anything I wanted for the big day, and he found out that my “one thing” was actually a dozen things. After that, whenever I suggested an idea for the wedding he would joke, “well, as long as its not the ‘one thing?!”
I will be writing about other “one things” in the near future (the scrapbook table was another “one thing”), but I wanted to share the “one thing” I am really, really excited about now, because everything just got finalized! This “one thing” is actually for Mr. Martini!

About Me: I never dreamed about my wedding as a little girl because I was too busy playing in the mud or pretending to be Martha Stewart?but now that it's here, I'm having a fabulous time DIYing everything in sight! We?re planning a very fun multicultural wedding (I'm Jewish and Mr. Cream Puff is Chinese), filled with as many personal details as I can muster.
As you may recall, I was about a quarter of the way through our programs when I accidentally jammed my sewing machine and production STOPPED. You may also recall that our solution to this problem was to have a cobbler sew the rest of them, but that they were sewn with the wrong color of thread, prompting my major wedding meltdown (even though it really wasn?t that big of a deal).
Well, my friends, I realized this morning that I never showed you the final product! So here they are! This is a programs as they were supposed to be: zig-zag stitch with black thread:
