Back during the end of September, I went to have coffee with my FMIL and FSIL. However, there was no coffee. Instead there was tea! And tons of familiar faces! I walked into the oh-so-charming dining room of the little restaurant and gasped at what I saw! I was so confused at first, I didn’t know why everyone was there, and then it dawned on…they were there for me! Mr. Beanstalk’s mother had planned a surprise bridal shower for me!!! I was so surprised and excited by this touching gesture.

It was such a delightful day. We sipped different flavors of tea (I’ve become a a big tea consumer in recent months…I adore English Breakfast Tea as a late afternoon drink) so this was a real treat for me! As we drank our warm beverages and chatted amongst each other, tiny sandwiches were served. They were served on platters and set in the middle of the tables. Once we had finished all of the finger sandwiches, tiny scones and pastries were brought out for our enjoyment! Everything I tried, I loved!

I thought the pastries were our dessert, so I ate more than my fair share. But of course, I was wrong and the dessert platters were soon brought out. Each platter was filled with so many different types of sweet treats. There were lemon bars, little pastry cups filled with fruit, and chocolate mocha brownies to name a few! Shortly after the desserts were brought to us, and I had tried every single item, I was full! I didn’t realize I had eaten so much because everything was so tiny!
Next we moved outside for some pretty pictures with the tea room as the backdrop. Looking back, I believe that was the last warm weekend we had in New England! I have yet to wear sandals again!

After pictures, the party moved back inside and it was time to open gifts! I was shocked by the kindness and generosity that everyone bestowed upon me (and Mr. B)! There were so many gifts! I even received packages from some of Mr. B’s family who live out of state!
Shortly into the unwrapping of the presents, there was a surprise guest…
Mr. Beanstalk came to enjoy some fun!
Before everyone left they filled out note cards with advice for me and Mr. B. The cards were then placed in a cute little album so that we can cherish them forever!

It was such a lovely day! I had never had a surprise party before that!
