Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Grad Student – Clinical Mental Health
Engagement Date: September 13, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2009

About Me: I am a North Carolina girl with a New York City spirit. I love crafting, blogging, laughing and dreaming. I know every word to the Anne of Green Gables and Little Women movies. I own every single Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine and have been dreaming of weddings since I was little. I believe life is about doing what makes you happy. If you aren't happy re-evaluate what you are doing. You should never look back on your life and not be proud of what you are doing. If you want to travel - travel. If you want to sing - sing. If you want to start a company - start a company. If you want to blog – blog!
I am so excited to start my recaps. I think this will be really fun. I am also going to continue to post projects and if you see something that you want to see more of, just let me know!!
How did I choose “It’s Time” as a theme for the recaps? If any of you are Steel Magnolias fans, you will remember the part just before Shelby (Julia Roberts) walks down the aisle and says, “Daddy, it’s time.” He asks, “What?” and she repeats, “It’s time.” Then he says, “Oh… IT’S TIME.”
I love that part!

Who in the relationship is frugal and who is spendy? How does it affect your relationship?
Mrs. Deviled Egg - I am the more frugal one in the relationship. Not that Mr. DE is a big spender, but I am the one more likely to purchase the lesser-priced version of stuff we buy often. And, I am the coupon queen, so I cringe when he buys stuff like toothpaste and deodorant without using one. (You can totally get that stuff super cheap or FREE by combining coupons and sales! I stock up when I can.) I’m usually OK with checking out consignment shops for clothing and accessories, but he’s more likely to head to the department store for his wardrobe. Of course, I always make sure to bring along any necessary coupons! Overall, I’m glad that both of us have a good understanding of where we stand financially and are able to evaluate purchases without going overboard or piling on any debt.

Miss Pretzel, Seattle

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer
Engagement Date: September 2, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios
About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I was born and raised in New Hampshire, went to undergrad and grad school at Purdue University in Indiana, had my career take me to Wisconsin, Atlanta, and then finally settled in Seattle. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. We love Chuck Taylor All Stars, holding hands, clever t-shirts, bacon, KEXP Radio, craft beer, buying local, cooking from scratch, gardening, mastering our new Gocco, and of course, each other. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
… perhaps a perfect little silk hankie that says “Will you be my bridesmaid?”
My maids are all over the country—Denver, Seattle, Indiana, Illinois… there aren’t 2 maids in the same city out of the five of them and only one I actually see day to day. I wish I could have asked each of them in person, but I did the next best thing—Isent them a personalized invitation to stand up with me at our wedding.
I love Etsy and have been loving it for a lonnnng time. Call it inspiration central!

Miss Trail Mix, New York
Age and Occupation: 26, PE Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA Student
Engagement Date: March 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow School
About Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
I change my mind a lot. Case in point: the bridesmaid’s dress. My girls couldn’t keep up with my emails regarding the dresses, since I kept finding new ones I liked. We decided to look for a chiffon fabric rather than a satin, since I felt it was keeping with the casual, country theme of the wedding. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of bridesmaid’s dresses in general and was hoping to avoid the standard, strapless satin dress. I also really wanted to keep the price reasonable, which I discussed with all the girls beforehand, so everyone was comfortable with the budget.
So, into the wild hinterlands of the wonderful online world of bridesmaid’s dresses I went. Here are a few that I liked after some initial research (most of the websites I was looking at won’t show the dress in another color, so you’ll have to use your imagination and picture them all in a cornflower or sky blue).
This Jenny Yoo dress is cute and I liked the sash, but alas, it was too expensive.

Miss Snow, Madison, WI/Asheville, NC
Age and Occupation: 28, PhD student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Graphic Designer
Engagement Date: August 5, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Claxton Farm
About Me: I am true Southern gal displaced in the beautiful and blustery midwest. A true theatre geek at heart, I love any kind of performance and spend most of my time researching old productions in dank library archives. When not in the library, I love music (punk rock, bluegrass, and everything in between), design in all forms, any reality TV show on Bravo (especially those that feature housewives or sharp knives), beer and wine from Oregon, and exploring the outdoors. My fiance and I are true best friends, and he inspires me every day. After a long and happy dating relationship, we’ve decided to tie the knot in the mountains of North Carolina, our home state. We’re planning a long-distance, largely-DIY, eco-conscious hip farm affair that celebrates family, friends, and love.

That’s our venue. Our beautiful, beautiful venue. Gone.
At this point, I feel silly being so sad because it is just a venue, but I am sad. Really sad.

Mrs. Joey, Seattle
Age and Occupation: 28, Project Administrator for Public Health NGO
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, High School History Teacher
Engagement Date: June 24, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009
Venue: Eastside Catholic Chapel and Lake Union Cafe
About Me: I'm a Seattle girl through and through except for the fact that I don't drink coffee. I love my job most of the time because I get to travel and work with brilliant people who are trying to prevent Malaria. I love DIY projects of all sorts, cooking, and watching sports. I'd wear anything at Anthropologie and could spend all day on Etsy. I love to travel but shouldn't because I always get myself into unbelievable situations!
After we left Cairns, we headed south to Brisbane aboard the Sunlander Trans-Queensland train. We wanted to see more of the Australian landscape but knew we didn’t have time to do any driving ourselves so we boarded the train for a 24-hour trip.

Mr. Joey enjoying the first class cabin.
It seems like a long time to spend on a train, but the journey was actually really enjoyable. We packed provisions (lunch, some dinner and breakfast), a few good books and kicked our feet up.

Miss Rainbow, Tampa
Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer
Engagement Date: November 27, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: The Gamble Plantation
About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
*Warning- Super Duper Photo Heavy*
Before I discovered makeup and the joys of being behind the lens, I used to model. Along the way, I met a few really great photographers who also became friends. About two years ago (way before Mr. R and I were engaged), one of said photographer friends called in a favor. Apparently he was putting together a shoot-out/seminar for about 20 of his closest photographer friends, and was wondering if I’d come down and model for them. Well, duh.
About a week before, he told me that their only male model had pulled out of the shoot and was wondering if Mr. Rainbow would be willing to stand in. I asked Mr. Rainbow (who is more than a little shy when it comes to things like this) and after a bit of begging and pleading, he said yes! After some grueling Tyra-style model boot-camp (I kid) Mr. Rainbow and I were ready to get our Zoolander on. What commenced will forever be my favorite photos on the planet, and what we now consider our “ungagement photos”. With pictures this amazing, we didn’t see the need for an actual engagement shoot. Have a look see, why don’t ya:

Miss Ramen, Phoenix
Age and Occupation: 26, Optometry Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Industrial Designer
Engagement Date: January 3, 2009
Wedding Date: December 2009
Venue: Phoenix Art Museum
About Me: I'm an SF-born, Seattle-raised girl, transplanted to Phoenix where I'll be getting married, and planning all the way from Orange County where I go to school (yes, it feels as crazy as it sounds). I loooooove Yogurtland, am slightly very obsessed with all things paper, am heavily addicted to wedding blogs, deeply desire a puppy, thoroughly enjoy cooking, cry when I watch (almost all) movies, thrive on solo car-karaoke, can't stop being sarcastic, am neurotic about taking pictures of almost everything I eat before I eat it, and aspire to travel the world. My super-talented fiance and I are attempting to DIY a majority of our massive (~350 guests) "clean & modern, yet romantic, but completely unexpected, with a teeny dash of vintage" wedding, stay within our not-so-massive budget, and somehow get a really luxe (but still fun!) look/feel at the same time. In music terms (since we're both really into music) think Coldplay meets Motown meets Kanye meets Sinatra.
So, since I’m starting to get RSVPs back… this means I can finally reveal our invitations to the hive!!! Hooray! Yes, our babies have all left home…

To start with, we HAD to have letterpress. We made sure we budgeted enough for this - and when our budget looked a little tight, Mr. Ramen told me to just go for it, since it’s the one paper thing I’ve been dying to have since - well, forever. I am quite obsessed with paper. I have saved every single wedding invitation that I’ve received, even if I don’t like it. HAH! I like the look of paper, the touch of it, the smell of it. Letterpress ink has this mechanical smell which I LOOOOVE. And I’m totally keeping a set of our invites just for touching. MMM! Delicious texture - and that Crane Lettra paper?!?!? To die for!
