While with the family in Northern California we, much to Mr. Hawk’s chagrin, did a lot of shopping. I mean, A.LOT. of shopping. One of the main to-do’s on the agenda was finding the perfect dress for Momma Hawk. I would describe Momma Hawk as sophisticated with a classic, clean style. Many of the dresses we had seen at bridal shops seemed somewhat frumpy and definitely didn’t suit her. We were determined to find something outside of the bridal shops.
While in San Francisco, we made a stop off at the Nordstrom at Union Square. This location offers a bridal suite and I was hopeful they’d have plenty of MOB dresses.
The first dress she tried was Adrianna Papell’s Metallic Crepe Sheath Dress with matching bolero:
OK, even though this is completely irrelevant I cannot continue with this post without explaining the title.
Mr. Coyote IS Wayne. Seriously. It’s kind of creepy.
Remember this scene?

Yeah, that black-T-shirt-and-red-boxers look Wayne has going on this photo? That’s what the mister looks like 90% of the time. The first time we watched that movie together I screamed at the TV and was like, “HOLY SHIT, THAT’S YOU!!”

Thanks to everyone who helped me make a decision about the bachelorette! We must have been on the same vibe because I agreed with you all…

Mr. PF and I have been living together for three out of the five years of our relationship. I can honestly say that when we first moved in together, I didn’t have marriage anywhere on my mind.
I know a lot of people have rules about at least being engaged before they move in with their man, but a lot of my friends were living with their guys and I didn’t really see anything wrong with it. At the time, it was the right thing for us to do. We were both relocating from Austin and it just didn’t make sense for us to be in a serious relationship and living in separate spots in a new city.
I was chatting with one of my friends the other day and she was telling me about how she and her fiance have never lived together and how she feels like she is doing something wrong. She had been getting a lot of bad feedback about how she will be in for a rude awakening when they start living together, but I actually really admire the way she is going about things. She and her FI love each other very much and they obviously know that marriage is hard, but they are confident in their love to make it through the hard times whether they have lived together before or not.
Back in the day, that’s the way people did things.

I’ve shared with you my dress, my boots, my rings and garter…now for the rest of my wedding day accessories. Earrings are an everyday staple for me, and necklaces and bracelets are worn almost as often, so wedding day accessories were a must.
I started with my necklace. I knew I wanted something big and bold—statement making. I couldn’t add anything until I had the necklace. I found loads of inspiration but by far my favorite is this picture:

As I put the final touches on my ensemble, our guests poured into the garden at Oxon Hill. At the entrance, we had a little table with a lemonade dispenser and this adorable sign made by Mrs. Dolphin via Gator Bride Designs.

We’re told people marveled at the view as they stepped in… I’m not surprised at all. The view from the garden is stunning and not one visit to Oxon Hill Manor for appointments and planning was without a huge sigh at the gorgeousness beyond the gated entryway. This heart wreath was placed there as an ode to it being our favorite place at the venue.
Dear Miss Eagle,
Last Friday, January 6th marked the anniversary of the day we first met and began a friendship. I know our first date wasn’t until the 28th of January and we chose to celebrate that day, but I would like to take a moment to remember the conversation that started it all.
The conversation was about an Angelina Jolie movie that we both enjoyed more than a person should. Girl Interrupted. Remember that one? Well our common love for that movie and Miss Jolie lead us to discovering what other interests we shared… other than that and Grey’s Anatomy, there wasn’t much. You were a beautiful, intelligent student, partying every night in the big city. I was the shy girl from a small town who had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. But that night after hours of getting to know you, I knew that you were the one for me and I would be stupid not to pursue you.
You’ve heard this one hundred times already, but that night when I went to bed, I dreamt of you and I ten years down the road. We had two children and were getting family portraits done. I don’t know about you, but I am so very excited to see that dream come to life. I know it won’t be for a while - grad school and then more school and all… - But we’ll get there eventually.

As soon as I got engaged I started thinking colors. I am purple obsessed (as in my phone, laptop, earphones, Converse, umbrella, wallet, room walls, etc. are all in the color purple), so I knew it would be one of our wedding colors.
I jumped head first onto the peacock-wedding train. All the purples, blues, and greens…the feathers…the classiness of the whole affair…I was in love.

Then our wedding began taking shape, and I realized regal jewel tones might not be the best choice for an informal, 9:00 AM May breakfast wedding on the tropical island of Puerto Rico.
My next color obsession was a lot lighter, mixing my favorite color with his, blue.
