At first, Mama FC thought this was impossible, but she quickly found there is lots of extra fabric for snips from the inside waistline. Good thing we sent a swatch, too! Ellen at Ladylion said that the dress was a verrry special colour… or maybe she was just joshing me. Whatever, I’m going to pretend I do have a really special dress colour.

At this point I was trolling dress sites again looking for any kind of dress that came with a jacket, bolero, shawl, you name it. It was sick. I was sick. I found that I kept coming back to San Patrick and Pronovias dresses over and over again…

I love pearl earrings, the color pink, and ruffles are a part of my everyday wardrobe. My wonderful fiance and I are planning a destination wedding with our closest family and friends and we’re leaving a trail of glitter in our path!
One of the biggest trends that I love right now is hair flowers. I love all kinds of hair adornments, actually, but especially hair flowers. Preferably with some feathers or something shiny attached.
I have spent many hours on Etsy, as I’m sure many of us have, searching for the perfect hair flower.
There is this pretty little lovely… It’s got the flowers and something shiny. But at the price of $64, I kept looking.

I love cooking, entertaining, reading (addicted to my Kindle) and going to the movies. I don't miss an episode of Hoarders and I start cleaning every time I watch! My profession doesn't call for much creativity so wedding planning has been a great outlet. Mr. Sunhat and I met online three years ago, cheer for rival MLB teams and share a home with our dog, Wrigley. We are planning a traditional, Polish, Catholic wedding with lots of DIY elements and some fun surprises. I'm so excited to be married on New Year's Eve and we can't wait to ring in the new year as husband and wife!
On Friday, July 22nd, MOB and I had a mother-daughter day and went to another of Transworld’s Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories shows. I first discussed the show in this post, and we wanted to go to another to see what other wedding goods we could find.
Going on a Friday was a great choice. The doors opened at 9:30, and we arrived about 20 minutes early. We waited in a makeshift line and made a game plan on which way to go first. As the crowd filed in, we were handed some free goodies:

The search for Sabelle consumed my body and wracked my brain. I thought it was all over when I bought my gown. My mind calmed and I stopped feverishly searching websites for hours on end at home. I could focus on work again and I stopped laying awake at night dreaming of my gown. I was at peace. (For awhile…)
It started out innocently enough… I had been interested in the matching bolero that accompanied my dress, but having purchased my dress used, it was not included in the sale. From time to time, I would search classified ads on the internet to try and source a matching bolero in my size.
Of course, whenever I found someone selling a dress with the bolero, they never wanted to sell it separately. For months I would search, find something, then give up again after my request to buy separately was rejected. I wasn’t even sure if I wanted the Maggie Sottero bolero, but I thought maybe it would make my dress different from all the girls who wore it sans bolero.
Then in April, an English couple got married and I fell in love all over with the idea of a jacket.

…the awesome wedding-day-attire details! I have had so much fun shopping for all the little incidentals for the wedding-day outfit. This one is a particular favorite of mine. Oh, but first…

The detail that is making my heart flutter today is head gear…or head wear. Whatever. Veils and such. After stumbling upon an amazing video over at Style Me Pretty, I really started to think what I wanted to do with my hair. I naturally just thought I would wear a veil and be done with it, but after seeing so many wonderful options, I don’t know how I will pick.
The first look I love is the Bohemian look. I think I would be able to pull this off simply because our wedding is on the beach and will probably be a little less formal that a ballroom wedding.

My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
This weekend was my hair and makeup trial. I am so excited to report that it went fabulously. Bring on the pictures!

We love the outdoors just about as much as we love spoiling our dog and three cats. On any given weekend you can find us being adventurous, doing anything from rafting to snowboarding, and everything in between. We live in an outdoor mecca and truly believe in "Work Hard, Play Harder." I'm an optimist to the core, a crafter wannabe, a Southern food cook-in-training and a big time believer in girls nights. We met, fell in love and got engaged in eight short months and are now knee-deep in planning what we hope to be a super-fun, very us wedding celebration. Join us as we plan a rustic meets whimsical, Colorado winter wedding with loads of personal touches and good food!
We are down to the five month countdown and I feel like I am finally making moves in the wedding planning arena. We have been engaged for just over a year now, and there have been plenty of times that I didn’t feel like I was doing a good job as a bride-in-planning. I felt sub-par with my capabilities, even though I had the vision, I couldn’t jump start the actual process. It didn’t help that I was a devoted reader of Weddingbee, and read the chronicles of brides executing and finalizing all their details. But me? I didn’t want to think about food or lodging or linens. I spent all my wedding brain on getting inspired but never acting on that inspiration. How in the h-e double hockey sticks was I going to get this thing put together? Well last week the wedding planning dam broke loose and I began checking things off the list at an insanely fast pace. Who would have guessed that one little purchase would be such a monumental event?
The well received culprit, a purchase from Zulily:

My latest obsession has lately been ideas for outfitting my bouquet. There are so many pretty things you can do with the handle of the darn thing, I’m not sure how I’m going to pick which one I really want.
Ms. Ferris Wheel, San FranciscoAge and Occupation: 29, PsychologistFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, PsychologistEngagement Date: May 23 and 28, 2010 (one for each of us!)Wedding Date: November 2011Venue: Parc55 Hotel (city lights ceremony, ballroom reception)About Me: Born in the Southeast, educated in the Northeast, and over-educated on the West Coast, I finally earned my city-girl credentials and have put down roots in gorgeous San Francisco. I’m a raging perfectionist with a lightning quick wit and a terrible sense of both time and direction. Our wedding task list is endlessly growing because of my predilection to think that DIY projects I can make = DIY projects I should make (so not true!). I always go to bed wishing there were more hours in the day to enjoy all the things I adore, whether that be hobbies, friends, my career, our two dogs, or Mr. Ferris Wheel. Ours is a story of a non-traditional couple living an oddly traditional life planning a not-so-traditional wedding in this city we adore. Together we are bustin’ out all of our best skills (and some of our worst ones) to plan a laid-back-chic DIY-craftastic love-alicious affair!
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but we’ve done (and continue to do) a lot of DIY for our wedding. Even with the multitude of projects we’ve undertaken, I will be the first to admit that DIY doesn’t always mean cheaper or better. (Goodness knows it never means easier or faster, but I suppose that’s the natural and expected consequence of ’doing it yourself.’) Yet I do think in the long run there’s some kind of even trade-off that happens—either you are able to save a little money on a project because you’ve invested your own time and energy, or you end up spending the same (or more) money as you would’ve to buy something in a store but you feel like the end result is more personalized and perfect.
Well folks, today I feel like I completed the holy grail of DIY projects. Something that saved me money, gave me exactly what I was looking for, and was unbelievably fast and easy to boot. I can’t wait to share it with the hive because I just know there are a handful of you out there who will want to attempt this project for yourself.

I love to be crafty and do things myself, which explains why my two crazy kittens often will prance around the house covered in glitter and ribbons. When I am not bogged down with work, school, or wedding planning, I like to travel to visit my expansive family and have wild adventures with my best friends. After a rollercoaster ride of a love story, I’m ready to take that final plunge, marry the love of my life, and become a Mrs.!
I survived a move and a family reunion this weekend. I’m mostly unpacked, and am looking forward towards orientation for my new job. As if I couldn’t be any more excited, this was waiting for me when I came home:

The hive has always been a resource of amazingly creative ideas for personalising your wedding. The amount of innovative DIY and artistic resourcefulness found here is staggering!
Pre-Weddingbee, I had never heard of a bride wearing anything besides the standard white petticoat. But when I stumbled upon coloured crinolines in the forums, I knew they screamed “Miss Funnel Cake”.
