About Me: I'm a silly mess of a girl who, above all else in this world, LOVES the Spice Girls. I eat sushi at least 3 times a week, and feel guilty about how much it costs the other 4 days a week. I love designer jeans and cheap accessories. I don't like sweets, but I love the UCLA Bruins!
Our venue has a corkage fee on champagne, so of course, we’re coming fully armed with magnums to save a little dough . A magnum is 1.5 liters, or 2 full bottles of regular champagne. This weekend we set out to find out how many glasses we could pour from a magnum… I suppose a quick Google search would have given us the answer, but where’s the fun in that?

About Me: I didn't think I'd be "that girl," but I am having so much fun planning our wedding (mostly by myself). I'm a PR and Marketing Director for a major jazz festival and camp by day, and by night, a romantic jazz singer and bride-to-be! I hope all my research can help other brides in their planning.

A great way to add a personal touch to your reception is to have a signature drink. When we started planning I did a bit of looking for inspiration and found this lavender champagne on MarthaStewart.com.

Engagement Date: February 10, 2007
Wedding Date: September, 2008
Blogging Since: December 7, 2007
Venue: The Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA
About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
I love the idea of having a signature cocktail served to guests at our cocktail hour. It would be a nice way to incorporate another personalized element while adding a splash of color. Not just any color, mind you, but a color that fits into our scheme of teal and chartreuse. And really, any excuse to create more work for myself by making cute little drink flags is what I’m all about.

With a simple Google search I came upon Drinkalizer.com, where you can search for cocktails by category, spirit or — you guessed it — color! There are certainly some, ahem, interesting (read: gross-sounding) concoctions out there, but many sound yummy and look so pretty!

Venue: St. Clement Church, Cafe Brauer (or a big church wedding and a fancy party at a cafe in Lincoln Park.
About Me: I am a grad student with a secret obsession for all things wedding related. I also love to read, travel, drink champagne and go for walks with our dog, Maisy, and Mr. Peacock. We are planning our very vintage wedding in the greatest city in the world, our hometown of Chicago. I am so proud to be a Bee!
One of the unfortunate details in our liquor contract is that we have to pay for a champagne toast by the glass. I LOVE champagne/sparkling wine and I would prefer to have it flowing all night. I also don’t think that everyone (Mr. Peacock, namely) likes the bubbly as much as I do and so many glasses will go to waste.
If I could have my way, I would bring in a few cases and just let everyone pass the bottles around. I would also get something a little better than the Freixenet that is currently part of my package. We tried Coppola’s Sofia at our engagement party. It was yummy and came in a beautiful shabby chic bottle. That bottle was wrapped in pink plastic wrap, which adds a little excitement.

About Me: I am a wine-loving, earring-obsessed foodie who lives in Portland, OR. I design jewelry as a hobby and love to shop for jeans, shoes, and vintage furniture. I am a crazy mix of modern and traditional values, and I can't wait to marry my best friend and see where God will lead our lives together.
Having decided that we were not participating in the usual Black Friday craziness this year, Mr. Robin and I instead launched ourselves into a road trip down the breathtaking Columbia Gorge under the guise of running some errands for the wedding - first drinks, both wine and beer, and then gathering intelligence for possible mini-moon places for the week after the wedding.

It’s difficult to include everyone important in the wedding process, especially when most of our families reside half way across the country. We’re trying as hard as we can to make the wedding a reflection of not only ourselves, but everyone involved.
Our winery reception site lists five wines (3 reds, 2 whites) that we must choose from for our reception. So we hauled all five to our most recent trip to Minnesota to have Mr. Penguin’s family help us choose our wedding wines. We had to choose from a Sav Blanc or Semillion for our whites, or 2 Zins and a Bella Rosso for the reds.

He belongs to a wine club and gifted us with wine for our reception wrapped in personalized labels with our names. We now have enough wine for 35-40 dinner tables to receive one bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon each.

About Me: I moved around a lot growing up, but consider myself a Southerner at heart. I love scrapbooking, dancing, doggies, and diet coke. I am all about personalizing everything and hence, I'm a DIY bride who is just loving the entire wedding planning process! Mr. Daffodil and I met in our college fellowship group and were "just friends" for three years before we started dating. We've been together for four years now and can't wait to get married in sunny SoCal, Mr. Daffodil's hometown.
I’ve never been much of a heavy drinker…When it comes to alcohol, I’m one of those people who go straight from slightly buzzed to getting sick, with no happy state in between! Furthermore, I also fall victim to the “Asian flush”
, so I usually try to limit myself to only a couple glasses of wine at corporate and social events. Mr. D is usually up for a few good beers and some great wine. For the most part, however, few of our family members drink.
One of the details FMIL and I have been discussing concerns the libations for the reception. Mr. D and I are planning on having a cocktail hour prior to the banquet. Initially, there was a debate between us and FMIL whether to have an open bar, a cash bar, or just a dry wedding altogether. My general impression is that, unless it is due to religious reasons or personal beliefs, alcohol should probably be provided at wedding receptions, if only to lighten up potentially awkward situations for guests who don’t know anyone else or for the old friend who runs into her ex
. Mr. D and I also aren’t quite into the idea of a dry wedding…what’s a celebration without some bubbly!

About Me: I am a Southern California native who enjoys cooking, writing, travel and all things in the arts. Mr. Peppermint and I met in college and he proposed on our four year anniversary in one of our most special places, Joshua Tree National Park. We're having a destination wedding in Palms Springs that will incorporate tradition as well as reflect our personalities!
I’m back from my birthday weekend rejuvenated! Don’t get me wrong–I’m still a bit overwhelmed by all the wedding-related odds & ends that seem to keep creeping up, but nonetheless, the Peppermints had an amazing weekend and can cross one thing off our wedding list: alcohol!
Here’s a pictorial recap of our wine tasting weekend…
Mr. Peppermint & I started the day off with a big (delicious!) breakfast at Paula’s Pancake House. Here I am outside the restaurant, chatting it up with Mama Peppermint:
